MY last exclusive stands all have had the sideshow paint come off over time with paint ending up on the figures bottom boot....examples luke's 30th aniversary stand and my smuggler exclusive han....I wonder how this fett exclusive stand will hold up after useage ?

EVILFACE had a great idea of making clear vinyl covers to stick over the SS SW stands to keep that from happening. I think he's still offering them.

Damn you barryo now every time i look at fetts exclusive stand i hear squiggys voice SAYING Hello Laverne....ha ha.....i guess the stand stays in the box......because of that lame embroided f never noticed until now...

It's almost like the paint didn't dry. Putting a clear coat over that won't change anything since it's like painting over wet paint.

Not neccessarily. Clear coat, in addition to being an actual layer of paint, is also a very fast sealant. Often, paint shops 'cheat' a bit by putting clear coat over not-fully-cured base coats to speed up the job. Clear coat dries much faster than color, and it dries 'different', I guess, meaning not tacky.

The idea of the clear decal over the base is a good one, but honestly, a layer of clear coat would probably work just fine.

The only problem is that after clear coat is applied (especially if it's spray paint), the surface might not be very smooth. And I doubt that anyone wants to spend time polishing out a figure stand.

If EVILFACE is making these stand covers, I would probably opt for that.

Just thought I'd add a bit of info to the post.

Not true. If you clearcoat wet paint, you wind up with a tacky result. It's basically just a clear acrylic so you're adding more paint on top of wet paint. But yeah, EF's covers are the way to go.

Right. I should have specified the difference between enamel and acrylic.

well, i got my fett yesterday. I molded the ab plate, took off the clear plastic sheet and used Fabri-tac adhesive and just glued the armor on the vest and dabbed dots of the glue to the pegs on the inside of the vest. I think it turned out decent and the glues bond is fine.

Fett is parted out at TA. I picked up an extra vest in case I mess up the fix and a few extra stands just in case the rest of the Bounty Hunters do not come with them.

But wouldn't the paint then stick to the covers and if they start to look bad, peel, etc and you have to take it off so will the paint thats not permanent? :dunno Maybe this is why you buy the regular version? :lol

I picked up my Boba last night. I was excited at first. But was pretty disappointed with the figure. The jet pack only has 2 clips that in slides in. Do make it fall because those clips looks like they can break off easily. Every time you move the figure and the jet pack keeps coming off. They did the same with Zartan . They should have use a magnet to hold in place. And the chest plate is not fitted right . It bumps out at bottom looks like he has a beer belly. I looked through two cases and the were all like that. One thing sideshow finally got the body nice and tight. The stand is nice even comes with batteries. I would replace them because they look like cheap batteries that might leak. But I have to say it I know It's a little shorter but I like the medicom boba better.

Great job, I wondered if something like that might also work... just didn't want to do that much modding on mine :lol Hopefully on the next version of Fett Sideshow will just do away with the plastic backing, all it does is cause trouble :lol

MY EX from sideshow arrives today - do they no longer require a signature for these figures? I see no indication on my UPS tracking page?

Thanks

They only need sigs on items that are $185 or more, plus you can now opt out of the sig and have the package left at your door, property office, etc.

I just got my Sideshow Boba Fett and I unboxed him and replaced my Hasbro VOTC with him. I didn't spend a lot of time posing him or fiddling with the details (I haven't even unpacked the stand yet) but I thought I would post a comparison shot. I was hesitant to get the sideshow figure because I thought the Hasbro one I had we really good for the price, but I couldn't help wanting to upgrade. What do you think- was it worth it?

I like the helmet, the materials of the costume and the details a lot better on the sideshow figure, but I am following the various custom fixes people are doing and plan on doing some myself later on.

Honestly the "boxiness" of the vest does not bother me as much as the fact that you can see the edge of the plastic piece underneath creating a slight crease and "corner" on the side of the vest.

The other thing I want to fix is that I think the piece of armor that goes around the neck is to far forward and should not be touching the green pieces of chest armor connected to the vest. Has anyone been able to adjust this?
