Well Yoda was dressed similarly so I figured that there was some connection to the Jedi there but as Luke became a Jedi and didn't don even a robe it confused me especially as Anakin's ghost even had the robes. As a kid I wondered, he can build a lightsaber but can't put together a few robes to look like an actual Jedi? :lol

I keep forgetting Fett hasn't gone up for pre-oreder yet. I gives me a sad. Hopefully this will be one of the "exciting" pre-orders Sideshow mentioned for this week.

He probably will be a PPO. The figure is gonna be a must buy figure for anyone interested in SW much at all.

Well the thing is the concept of a Jedi evolved in Lucas' mind as he continued working but for me it would have been one of those things where the Republic would have come to the Jedi and they would have said "We do not get involved with those matters" and have it be it.

I'm sure they did at first, but I never had the impression that they were completely disinterested in how the galaxy fared.

and the costuming. I imagined Old Ben dressing the way he did because he was a hermit, not that they were standard issue Jedi robes. :huh

They were poor people clothes.

I would imagine you're right thankfully with the exclusive being a standard white stand I think this order will be less stressful. If the ESB themed base was the Ex for example I think you'd see a cluster____ but with the Ex being as "minimal" for lack of a better term everyone will be alright.

True and in the late 80s, early 90s it was completely acceptable. Then when Lucas made the prequels and anyone who was even marginally interested in being a Jedi from age 6 to age 60 was draped in robes, things became more difficult. I have a feeling that if Lucas could film that over he'd have Luke in a set of robes for the final DSII fight but it's a moot point really.

I'm sure they did at first, but I never had the impression that they were completely disinterested in how the galaxy fared.

Disinterested and uninvolved I think are two different things. The Elder Jedi I think would have been disinterested since in the grand scheme of things they would be searching for oneness with The Force which would make political issues or even strife in the systems seem trivial. I think younger Jedi would be very interested but be training to rise above if you will. It's all conjecture based on the evidence we've seen but it stems from the idea that the Jedi were more religious based instead of the galaxy's Navy SEAL 6.

See, I always, ALWAYS imagined them as warrior monks - spiritual, yet ready to keep the peace when needed, like a samurai crossed with a buddhist monk - why else do they carry light sabers? Why did they serve in the Clone Wars? Obi Wan doesn't use a mind trick on Ponda Baba, he hacks his arm off without blinking - seems like he may have done that once or twice before. And they are the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy. Sounds like they have a mission to patrol the galaxy like lawmen in the old west - then they get thrust into leading a war effort that's waaaay outside their normal scope of practice and THAT leads to their ultimate downfall. If anything, I would have liked to have seen them wielding the force in more outlandishly over-the-top fashion: this was the jedi at their prime when they should have had all kinds of fancy tricks up their sleeves, not just the remnants who survived to the OT: two near-death jedi masters, a half-cyborg sith, his geriatric master, and a guy who is essentially an adult padawan (until the last chapter). :wink1:

The white base probably will temper things just a bit. There will be some for sure like with the Clones that just order a regular, but the overall experience should be a decent hit on the servers.

But Boba isn't this great character people make him out to be. Al he ever did in the OT was follow the heroes to Bespin, Vader did all the rest. And when he did get a chance to show himself in a fight on the barge, he gets hit by a blind man and falls into a big earthworm. The end.

Kid Boba came off way more of a badaas than grown up Boba. He'd slit your throat with a switchblade.

But this is all moot cause I doubt Boba comes with a unmasked head.

This is all gibberish.

If this is Q2 then I fully expect not to see this on order until Mid to Late September.

Really looking forward to this, the wait's been long and now we've seen it we've still got a long wait ahead of us. :gah:

Hope this isn't as far away as has been stated.

But when your abilities become needed to keep the peace, to be uninvolved is to be actively disinterested. The jedi were protectors of life above all else, and to turn their backs on the Republic when it was threatened seems counter to what I always assumed them to be.

And in the Republic prior to the corruption that led to Palpatine's rise, the only strife to be concerned with was simple. They could attend to those problems with minimal disruption to the pursuit of their spiritual paths, and they would be an excellent opportunity for education in the the Force.

And when called upon to be SEAL's, they were far out of their depths. No one else was as prepared to do the work, but it was counter to the way they did things, and if it had truly been their nature, they might have won the war. Regardless of whether or not they were the guardians of peace and justice, they were peacekeepers; not hardened warriors.

You're right that it is very much open to interpretation, though. There are a lot of ways to play it out, given how little we have to go on from the OT. I just think it would be a mistake to assume that Yoda's life in the OT was indicative of how the jedi lived in the last years of the Republic.

This is all gibberish.

Makes perfect sense.

:impatient:Ok, so I guess I can relax a little on the pre-order date. Since Fett's SS debut, I have had a recurring nightmare where I miss the pre-order and can't find him on the retail market. September huh? I really want this figure...just a little bit.
