It's not too hard. Boil and pop the bottom of the cap off then the top. You then have to carve a bit off the inside of the hat top to accommodate the forehead of the HT face. Otherwise it won't fit. I wish I had taken pics. I think I'm going to put a piece of metal inside the cap to sync with the magnet in the HT head. Then I can "upcap" the head and reattach the hair. wow, amazing pics, Jedijim... that hair on SSC head...

can you please try the SSC belt and boots with Hot Toys bespin clothes? Just wondering...

Received mine. I am relatively please with the figure.

Guess my only complain have always been the same.... a little too pricey.

Jedijim! Amazing pics mate, love all the various Luke versions lined up!
And the HT luke sculpt INSIDE the Hoth headgear looks amazing!

Looks great Jim. I glued mine at the cheeks. It made the sides of the quilted area fit flush with his face, made it look a little tighter? Mine felt a little too wide even after hot water. I also did the magnet thing, if you stick a piece of milliput inside the hat with the magnet in the correct place it hardens perfectly with the magnet in the right place.

But yours looks pretty perfect already IMO. I painted the tan quilted part of the hat as well, as it's supposed to be much lighter, almost the same as his sleeves. SS painted it a strange tan colour. (edit you may have already painted it!)

:rock

Guys... are you seriously cutting up and gluing a HT Luke headsculpt that cost no less than $40-50 (and I saw it go as high as $90) on the secondary market?

My pockets ain't deep enough for this hobby.:lol

Puay... you have a bumpy rise ahead if you think $200 is pricey.:lol

All my Lukes. Crappy iPhone panorama pic. View attachment 175892
This is as many looks as I could get from the HT heads.

Impressive group and something to aspire to, and with the lens distortion on the lightsabers (probably) an uninentional but nonetheless hilarious homage to Spaceballs. :lol

Well when you are already buying $200+ figures which you are still going to change up and add stuff for a $100 more what's another $40-50? :)

Exactly. I mean an extra HT Luke body alone will cost you to swap over at least more than the price of a knockoff slim. Plus an extra head sculpt? This is easily a $300.00 Luke once all mods are done. Not to mention Rory's HT boot mod. It looks like you dyed the boots grey too. Fantastic mods my friend. Inspiring to say the least.

I haven't painted the quilted part of the hat yet but now that you mention it. Thanks for the kind words everyone. It's nice to know there are supporters still left on this site amongst the sea of Debbie Downers.

Great post Jim, surely this is what it's all about? people having fun, being creative, sharing tips and striving to create the best versions of characters that they love?

(..and yes, I painted the boots grey with acrylic dips).

Just added another modification by angling the comm unit on Luke's hat......couldn't resist......

Thanks Glenn. I can't take credit for that. Rory is the artist responsible for that inspiration.

The SSC belt is a bit too big. And rightly so. It's designed to go around the bulky Hoth out fit. You can always move the Velcro to make it tighter but to make it truly fit I think you'd have to overlap the saber hook with the buckle.

I used the leftover piece of the hatted head to make this head sculpt. So there is no ball joint. I'd have to use the back piece to create a socket for the neck connector. Right now it's just sitting on top of the neck balance by the collar.

Another interesting fact. The SSC boots shorten him down a 1/16 of an inch. Now exactly 11 1/2 inches tall.

Is there a mod thread for this figure or should I just keep posting all of my mods here? Not sure.

I started on the Velcro attachments to replace the snaps since mine show really bad. I got these from walmart in the fabric section.

Cut it in half cause the circles although small are still too big for this.

Much better. Bottom button on the pants was showing way too much. Top button is fine cause it gets covered up. Now for the vest.

It would have been nice if SSC took a page out of hot toys book and used grey snaps.

Of course these are tan but you know what I mean.
