..........Christ, color me annoyed. Tauntaun delayed until December? the Luke unitl February? ****, just delay them both at this point. I dont want to pay for a rider-less tauntaun in my most expensive month of the year. This really blows.

You know, I was 100% all in for the tauntaun. But now with HT going full steam ahead with the SW license, and starting with Han and Chewie to boot, I'm gonna have to put the tauntaun aside. It's both a matter of funds and space.

So I'm kinda glad these all got pushed back a bit. I hope the tt stays in stock for a while like the Dewback did, just so I can have the option of getting it later once I see the rate HT is putting out the figures.

Its sheer mass will pull you back in, like space junk getting caught in Earth's gravitational pull. Or if you prefer, the glowing reviews will be like a flame to a moth and you won't resist for long.

I'm just saving up rewards points.

Space is an issue, though. Now that I'm going to be getting a bunch more figures than I was planning, it's not looking good for the tauntaun!

Just buy all the deluge of HT figs through SSC, get all those rewards points, then get the Tauntaun.

I had to put it aside and am relieved I did, since the Tauntaun, plus Hoth Luke and Han is a pretty big commitment in both money and space. I'm sure it will look amazing on display, though. Definitely that set is something I'm really looking forward to seeing released and in collections, even if I won't be purchasing, myself.

Shouldn't this be a huge concern for SSC?

They have all this pricey product coming out and HT is starting up the SW line, aren't they afraid peeps will cancel all their SSC stuff in favour of HT?

Many people will buy from both. The stuff isn't supposed to overlap. I'll grab a HT Chewie, but there's no way I'll take their trainwrek Solo. I've already got SSC troopers, but I'll get HT too. Not getting all the new SSC stuff (Red Squadron Luke, TIE pilot for example), but the Hoth stuff is at the top of my wanted list. I'd have no problem posing HT's Chewie with SSC's Hoth Han.

I'm sure it is hurting them but then HT is cannibalizing their own sales, too. Everywhere I go on the boards (SW, Aliens & Robots and Marvel), people are having to make choices and leave stuff behind that on a slower year would be a definite purchase (some collectors dumping GotG now that they've seen the Avengers 2 trailer, for example). There's simply too much coming out from too many top tier franchises to get everything.

Specifically in my case, I have limited room (and I'm happy to cut something and save $750.00 US, too). I could either have the Tauntaun and Luke/Han, or get the Speeder Bike and some Scouts. Visually, I prefer the Imperial stuff, so SSC is still getting my money, just on a different product.

This is a good point, too. I still intend to buy from both companies. Just it will be more and more discerning.

I'm definitely not bailing on Sideshow completely. I know they are still going to be making secondary and tertiary characters that HT will never touch. But now more than ever, you have to make some hard choices. And yes, HT is cannibalizing their own sales as well. I would have loved to get the two Ripleys coming (I have the Big Chap and Kane), but now with the HT SW figures coming (and the Sideshow ones as well), those are taking priority over Alien.

The tauntaun is an "easy" cut because of cost and size. I say "easy" but it never is, is it? I just hope the tauntaun sticks around for a while just in case I find myself with $350 burning a hole in my pocket!

Just changed the tauntaun to flex. With last payment on January 25th. At least there should be a rider by then.
