I've got an honest question for you Rory. If this forum is supposed to be a fan forum of sideshow products, why is praising them so awful? If you don't like something, why would you waste hours of your day posting over and over and over again that you dislike something? Would you join a forum called "bmwfans" and go on there and say all bmws suck and Mercedes is so much better? What's the point? No one is making anyone buy sideshow products. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But what drives a person to post negative after negative after negative responses?

Listen, I've posted on this topic a number of times at length, so I won't do it all again.
But to summarise, everyone has the right to post their opinions on here. Good or bad. There is nothing wrong with posting positively about Sideshow or any other company. I have no preconditioning to either Sideshow or Hot Toys. I love and hate based on each release. I try to be objective.

What I do have an issue with is when one group tries to overpower another. I'm tired of people complaining about people posting negatively as if they are doing something wrong.


There is a trend in these Sideshow threads to knock and passive aggressively troll anyone who says that something isn't great. Not sure whether it's an insecurity of opinion or what exactly. Both sides can be at fault. There isn't a higher ground. I respect others opinions, I never try to tell them they are wrong, it's all subjective. But say something bad and you get waves of "I think it brilliant do you need glasses, whats wrong with you, chicken little blah de blah" posts. I think these SSC heads are appalling. I'm tremendously disappointed in them, that's my opinion, I've commented in ongoing discussion, but here's the way it seems to go. You don't like something, say it once and leave, don't comment again, you love it? say it again and again and knock the critical posters as if they are trolling.

That's all.

And I seem to stand out in a wave of negative posts for some reason. I don't post over and over the same thing, thats just your incorrect perception. Go back and actually read the thread and you will see that I'm correct.

For example, this post chain started because someone came into the tread and made a smart ass comment, not from an actual post by me. Now anyone reading this think's I'm bitching about the figure again. It's a load of bollox.

You asked me a question, I answered honestly, now watch me get trolled. It's water off a ducks back to me, and if I think something is **** I will say so.

Not Rory, but finally you've posted something that I feel like responding to in a sensible way. Who is saying that praising these products is awful? And why can't we argue all day about this stuff without it becoming personal? I'm not here because I love to hate stuff, I'm here because I would like it to be good, and 'negative after negative after negative' is a response from me to something that I feel is a poor product, I haven't come here to look at great product and think 'how the **** can I make a nasty attack on this'? I ****ing love Star Wars, figures, everything this forum is about.

Equally I don't look at garbage like Hot Toys Han and think 'must make myself love this, it's Hot Toys'. I use a macbook pro because they're brilliant laptops, not because they're made by Apple. But I hate my kids iPad, it's a triumph of hype over substance. Do I have an iPhone? I don't even have a smartphone, I've got an eight year old nokia with a cracked screen. You can pick and choose stuff to like can't you? I only love all the good stuff HT has made, not all the bad, and back in the day - I'm talking 2002-5 now - I used to love Sideshow figures.

So, does everyone who dislikes/hates what HT has done with their latest SW offerings participate in those threads? I don't, because I would find it a total PITA to participate in a thread about something I dislike. Same reason I'm not a member of the Liver Lover's Forum.

Likewise, I can see where some people are coming from. I like this figure, but I'm starting to find it a PITA to participate in this thread too, which is a shame.

I have never posted anything but honest opinions. It's not up to you (or me) to decide whether somebody else is honest or not.
I love this hobby, I'm an artist myself and have been collecting my whole life, by now i know whether I think something is good or not.
I will say it how I see it, and I never expect anyone else to agree with me, but I do expect them to respect my opinion for what it is.

Now it seems like you have a whole other thing going on with Captain Britain, I will leave you two to slug it out.

Agreed. But I also don't understand why some people get so hurt by others negativity. If you like something you like it, if you hate it you hate it. Pick a side and be respectful.

I didn't mean to imply that people should only be allowed to post in one, but that the different content would go into each separate thread. Obviously it would never work in practise.

Insofar as this figure goes, I don't have any incredibly negative opinion about any of it. I have had some concerns about both figures, but even about Han, nothing incredibly negative. My general opinion of what each looks like hasn't really changed since they were shown at SDCC. Still on my waiting list.
