Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Yeah, it's getting harder to predict where the prices are going to settle out... I think Sideshow is making fewer and fewer of these larger pieces so they sell out faster and we're not seeing the drop in price later.

Makes me miss the days of 200 dollar Yoda Huts and Dewbacks.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I hope this one stays around a while because with three big Hoth Items, I won't be buying them all at the same time, nor right away.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Interesting that the neck seam on the Taun doesn't show up on any of the earlier promo pics.

Good news is, maybe this is a production piece, bad news is maybe this is a production piece.

Eh, I don't care about no stinkin' neck seam! Not sure when I'll be getting the TT, or even if I will now that the HT SW onslaught has begun. I'm also hoping it sticks around a while so I can spread out the purchases.

I wonder if the Hoth Han and Luke are production samples, because they look pretty good!

I said in the other thread that the coats on both figures are not the same as the previously shown ones (sewing, paint differences) so these could be production figures, unless they make multiple prototypes for shows.

Just saw what you said in the other thread--thanks! I'm still holding out hope that they come out good!

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

False advertising? I suppose if the complete absence of a seam where there would obviously be a seam led people to believe that the seam would be invisible, you have a perfectly valid point. You can disregard the SDCC pictures that showed the piece long before there were any pictures posted on their website. You can disregard all of the production shots they made available to the public. You can disregard any and all standards of reasonable expectation.

Maybe prototype unmodified for the switch-out feature.

Might have been using hot toys parts in the proto. That's why it looks so awful. :huh

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

It looks awful because they didn't make Han Hoth's parka hood sculpted Polystone fur to match.:lol

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

The seam is a no-go. Especially on a polystone statue.

Hot Toys can do it, why not Sideshow?

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I think it's a bit more difficult with polystone unless there's a natural line of some kind you can use to cover it (fold of skin, strap etc.) They probably should have made the sculpted fur a bit rougher in that area to create some deeper lines to hide the seam.

I will say, the production paint on the Taun's head looks incredibly well done, as does the saddle. The body "fur" looks a bit like grey stucco to me, but that may just be in pics/vids and look fine in-hand.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I am getting 2 of these and will get them customized to get rid of those ugly seams. It will probably mean having the heads permanently attached, which is fine.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Hopefully the neck seam can be hidden some how. It's a nice idea to have swappable heads, but a very visible seam's bummer.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

That seam sucks. I'm glad I didn't order but I was certainly planning on it. The Luke figure is useless without the Taun Taun. What a mess. Sideshow has slipped, big time.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I would have probably preferred just the one head sculpt instead of the seam. As it is the horn swapping is separate so it can still be Han or Luke's either way.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Wow, it doesn't "seam" THAT bad...nunk,nunk! Too soon, or did someone use that already? :wink1:
