Those are the old wizards choices as well. :monkey3

Well, the administrator of the Crazy Old Wizards forum is a friend of mine. He just told me: "It looks NOTHING like Ewan."

Feel free to roll your eyes at his comment too, but I'm pretty sure he knows how Ewan looks.

That is of course your opinion, and you're entitled to it no question of that.
I feel that that sculpt looks more like Ewan than I look like Bo Bice.

Bo will be performing at my club in a few weeks, and I'm already being bombarded with people wanting to get our pictures together. :crying:crying:crying
At least I'm bigger, lol.

To me, Old Ben, ROTS Obi-Wan and this new AOTC Obi-Wan are all perfect representations of their respective films.

I do agree with ya on that. They all do a amazing job of capturing him at that point in his life. Which is really the most important thing.

I'm working on my Kenobi beard, Irish...it'll be a few..... years! :chew

I could go for the mullet at any time though...
Trev

Sad to admit, I actually like the AOTC Obi-Wan hairdo, when it was Ewan's own hair. I tried to grow my hair like that, but too many factors worked against me. My hair isn't as thick as McGreggor's so it didn't look the same, and after growing a full year, I don't think my hair got more than maybe 3, 4 inches long tops so I got pissed and shaved it all off.

I didn't see this posted yet from the new Q & A on SS site

Woooohoooo! Sideshow is finally releasing Star Wars armored characters! Great job on the General Kenobi from Clone Wars! Can you describe why the process took so long and/or why your armor will be the best yet released? Also, I know you can’t tell us outright, but can you give us a hint at what armored character might be next?

It’s a thrill to finally be able to discuss this BIG project!

Sideshow’s Design and Development Team has the ambition to make the armored figures as authentic as possible, because the armored characters are some of the most often requested, most desirable characters in the Star Wars universe. Expectations are high, to say the least!

Our Creative Director, Tom Gilliland, and the Team decided that in order to satisfy the authenticity requirements and aesthetic aspirations, both internal and the expected inevitable fan reaction, that an entirely new body would be necessary. One that was slimmer, so as to be appropriately proportioned when dressed in armor (not too bulky), and one that would complement the armor configurations to maximize articulation. (You’ll be able to learn more about the new Trooper body in an upcoming Production Blog entry, so stay tuned!)

Howard Chan and his team at Hot Toys are doing some of the most amazing 1:6th scale design and development on the market today, and after consulting with Howard about his ideas, Sideshow and Hot Toys decided to partner to create a Clone Trooper figure, and by virtue, the new body platform. Sideshow takes great pride in this collaboration, and believes that the final product benefited hugely from the talents of the Hot Toys team.

There was a lot of discussion internally about which Clone Trooper should see release first. A generic white clone? A shocktrooper? One of Obi-Wan’s loyal allies from Utapau? Why not Obi-Wan himself, in that killer design from the Clone Wars cartoon? The Obi-Wan in armor figure allowed Trevor Grove to cut loose on Ewan McGregor from Episode II, and he really nailed the likeness. The portrait, combined with the fabric costume, is a pretty dynamic, sleek looking figure, and we’re proud to introduce the armored figures into the Star Wars line via General Kenobi.

A few more questions about General Kenobi: 1) Is Obi-Wan going to come with a Clone Trooper helmet? 2) Is there any cloth being used in the armor itself (the black areas)? 3) What kind of sticker shock can we expect to see with Obi-Wan during Friday’s PPO?

1) General Kenobi will not come with a helmet. 2) There is a brown cloth undersuit under the armor. (Stay tuned to our Production Blog for an entry that will show the armor pieces!) On that note, please understand that the armored pieces and undersuit are not meant to be removed from this figure. Attempting to remove the armor, especially the torso pieces, will cause damage, and you’ll have to invest in some glue to make repairs! 3) We believe that Star Wars collectors will find the price very fair, and reflects the artistry and development put into the piece, while simultaneously maintaining a very reasonable price point in the market.

I’m glad you decided to import the Clone Trooper from ‘Episode II: Attack of the Clones’ RAH figure from Medicom Toy. I’ve been looking forward to getting that one! Also, did you plan the release of the General Obi-Wan in armor to go along with this Trooper?

We’re always happy to offer our collectors some of the amazing Medicom Toy imports! And it is very fortuitous circumstance, no? You have an immediate opportunity to fill out the ranks of Obi-Wan’s squad, if you wish.

Sideshow has the honor of the KING OF 1/6 SCALE FIGURES, HOT TOYS to thank for bumping up their game! :rock :rock

Could we be seeing the makings of a possible merger in the future? Sideshow + Hot Toys = Hot Sideshow Toys? :D

Perhaps Sideshow handling the statues, PFs, dios, etc. and Hot Toys working exclusively on all the figures?

I don't think so. Moreso, Heath Hammond and those guys just truly respect Hot Toys' talent for 1:6 engineering and enjoy working with them. It's win-win for everyone. :rock

Depending on how the price tag looks Friday, I'll comment on this then. If the price is lower than you'd expect from Hot Toys, then I'd hope not as the properties Sideshow makes figures for are ones where I care more about getting many characters and I'd hate to pass on lots because the price goes up to HT's typical range. If the price is the same then I don't have any thought as to what happens with the two becuase it won't change the situation monetarily which is first and foremost concern as a consumer.

I think the Obi-Wan looks great! I would pay a 100 bucks for one, but I am not considering I don't like this version of the character. I am glad that he is being made, and this version has a cult following. It just isn't my cup of tea.

Basically, Obi-Wan is going to be expensive :lol

Sucks about no helmet though. Was HIS undersuit brown in the cartoon? I don't know why there would be a brown undersuit instead of black otherwise.

Yes it was and to answer your why statement, cartoon magic.

How could the Jedi suddenly jump almost a mile at once in CW cartoon?

Just how they do things.

It's also a little strange how Obi-Wan just happens to have a Jedi vest and cape to go over his Clone armor. Likely, he had a special suit just for him so instead of black he had brown under clothing to keep a Jedi look and the armor was just protective.
