This line is deader than the Morgul Lord after getting stabbed in the face by Eowyn. :eowyn

this line is deader than that orc in moria that aragorn beheads after yelling "AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!" and all that orc blood sprays up in the air like old faithful.

POTA can't be looked at now like a dead line. It gets the Hot Toys treatment.:lol

And so, can that mean that LOTR isn't too far behind? :banana

I mean, it's a common 'assumption' that SS is easing out of the 1/6 game. Perhaps HT will pick up on all of those 1/6 licenses that SS eases out of. Or a joint partnership perhaps? We could dare to dream...

Its common knowledge that SSC is moving out of the 1/6 game?

I've seen it posted in the Indiana Jones, and General Movie threads, maybe even here in LOTR. Something about them slowly phasing them out over the next few years (except for Star Wars perhaps). Whether it's totally true or not, I don't know, but that's what I've been reading...Makes sense with all these 'dead' lines of 1/6 that don't make them any money (outside of Star Wars) and even Star Wars started with edition sizes around 7000 or 8000 and now they're like 2000 or 3000...

I imagine SS would rather focus on PF and dios.

Its a "rumor" that has been on the boards for a couple years now.

Sideshow has NEVER EVER said anything to confirm this.

Everyone was convinced they were done with 12" a little over a year ago, then Indy was announced, G I Joe was announced and little couple figure lines like Reservoir Dogs and Shawn of the Dead came about. And even the Dead has become a full fledged line.

I wouldn't say its "common knowledge" SS is moving away from 1/6".

Its more like a common assumption a lot of people make.

Thanks for the clarification King. I have updated my earlier thread that this is a common 'assumption' rather than common 'knowledge'.

Still hope there's a possibility, however slight, the HT will continue the 1/6 LOTR line with at least 'armored' guys (orcs, Uruk-Hai, Lurtz, Ringwraith...Eomer, Eowyn, King Theoden, etc. in battle armor)...
:D

Well, if you phase all that effort of dreaming into customs, you can get some great "sideshow quality" pieces to actually complete the collection. :joy

I know, those custom Gimli's everyone's been putting together look pretty right on to me! Can't wait to build one up myself. Just waiting on all the parts (DID, roto on the way...still looking for the "soft")

Well with only a few regular Gandalfs left, and who knows how many exclusive Sams, maybe the line is not dead after all! I hope not! The sales of Frodo and Gandalf exclusives gives me hope that in a year or so, SS may pick up and finish the Fellowship.

Picked up all of the previous figures in the past few weeks and they look marvelous together. Will update my show your shelves post next week with pictures of all my new aqusitions.

:D

Actually, as I've been discussing with Marc, the sellout of the Hobbits only tosses dirt onto the already burried coffin. The reason they're selling out now is because those that want to complete the Fellowship on their own are taking the initiative to pick up the remaining pieces for three Hobbit customs, Bilbo, Merry and Pippin. Otherwise, make no mistake about it, they'd still be available. Additionally, the fact that the remaining stock sold out because of the customs, further emphasizes the reality that there just isn't enough interest in the 12" LOTR line to justify a profitable release.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that the reason Gandalf has started selling more as well is due to the light at the end of the tunnel that is the potential of the custom Hobbits to fill out the gaping holes Sideshow left in the Fellowship.
