Its a figure. A toy to oversimplify it.
It's not a political or religious statement any more that the HT TrueType of Obama is.
I look at any [every] figure for its potential in my collection:
Does it display well?
Can I kitbash from it?
How's the poseability?
Etc....

Slighty off topic, but not entirely, I have always wanted to make a Nativity scene with a random cast of 1/6 figures, so I would take a baby Jesus in a manger for that purpose alone :)

I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!

-Cal Naughton Jr.

You show me all the attention I need sexy. :love I just figured I would pop in and throw a little humor in here. Sheesh! Besides, I like the baby version the best.

so does Ricky Bobby.:lecture

Someone who gets it! :yess: I forgot Kit hates Will Ferrell. :rotfl

Back to work! Love you all! :wave

OK, once more, lets keep the conversation polite and on topic to 'the figure', not our personal spiritual beliefs.

I thank you.

I;m serious. Can we not discuss the piece and not the background of the piece and those who like it ? Geesh.

Anyway looks good.

Not sure I like the shiny chest showing.

Also not aure I would pay $99 for it. Even at $89 it was iffy.

But the costume is hot. If we saw there were more coming, I would love it.

Ben Hur for sure !
Moses is on point.
Would like King of Kings version of Jesus.
Ramses.

As you can see, I would like more from classic movies than the actual Bible.

As a believer/collector, I'm getting this as an unofficial representation of Charlton Heston from one of my favorite films; NOT as a generic representation of a Prophet so I can have an idol. I want figures of characters I'm familiar with, not someone else's personal interpretation of ancient Middle-Eastern people.

Preachy Biblical action figures? Kind of... unusual. (Unlicensed) Figures based on classic Hollywood epics? Long overdue.

:goodpost:

I'm not at all comfortable with a company trying to preach in this way, but a Heston figure would be cool :)

Because they've given up on finding true happiness in life, and have opted instead to invest their hopes in death. Since it is a state of non-existence with no attributes, they feel that they're free to ascribe whatever characteristics they choose. If they want to call the end of life an opportunity for eternal life, who has the authority to tell them otherwise? The base of consciousness is perception, and sensory systems cease to function at the time of the body's death.

I've said it before but, while this may describe most of Christendom, it does not describe me.

Woops!

Sorry, just saw these now:

OK guys, can we please try and keep this to discussions about the figure rather than questioning each others faith or lack of it.

Historical discussion about how we believe the figure/Moses should look (based on documented archeological findings) is of course fine.
However we can see here what they have decided to go with is the more romanticised European Iconic art look, which is influenced by (often commisioned paintings + statues) by the likes of Rembrandt, Bourdon and Michaelangelo. Hollywood took its aesthetic and ideal of the Biblical characters from these works of art.
Any way, play nice, or be smited down!

OK, once more, lets keep the conversation polite and on topic to 'the figure', not our personal spiritual beliefs.

I thank you.

:peace

When you say "non-believer", you do not casually mean someone who does not believe in trickle-down economics or a college-football playoff system, you mean someone who is going to go to eternal damnation in your religious fantasy. If you were only "condescending" it would be a step up, tone-wise.

:goodpost::exactly: not that a fundy believing I'm going to burn in hell intimidates me in the slightest, might aswell tell me that darth vader is gonna get me, but yeah.

But the figures themselves are the problem, as there is blatant misogyny in the very title/concept of the toy line and touch of antisemitism in the chosen depiction.

Do some people really not get what they are trying to do here? Either that or they must not like this movie:

I guarantee you from a business perspective that modeling this after Heston was a smart move. It appeals both to religious folks, and to movie collectors, like myself. Whereas a "historically accurate" 80 year old middle-eastern guy that's presumably Moses would be grossly out of place in my figure collection....

... a figure of DeMillian proportions would fit right in.
