Just walk away, as Dave pointed out, it really is beneath reasonable people to respond to this sort of angry, right-wing grievance fest..

Pretty certain he was talking about you, DA and the like, and your insensitivity of using this horrific tragedy as an excuse to troll a bull____ agenda. But then, if reading comprehension was a strong point, you wouldn't run around with your foot in your mouth all the time, running when sensibility and facts are brought to counter your pompous, divvy posts.

On a positive note, just saw on the news that the prosecution is trying to fight to include evidence that he'd plotted this to get multiple 1st Degree Murder charges which may then lead to the death penalty.

Outstanding news!!!

~~I"m fine with the Stand Your Ground law as it is. The problem is that people carrying/using guns need to know the situations that make it applicable. The guy that shot the salesman is going to be in a tough bind because he's going to need to validate his reason to use deadly force. Just saying "I felt threatened for my life" really won't cut it all the time.

In debate, is your mind ever open to the possibility of change or are you closed to that?

There are things in my mind that are not open to change. Sky is blue. Water is wet. Communism is evil. :)lol) Logical inference derived from the sense perception (reason) is the only method for human beings to gain knowledge of reality. Things like that.

I am open to the possiblitity that I'm wrong; that I've failed in my reasoning. I am not infallible. In that case, show me. I'm also aware that I don't know everything. If you have something to teach me, shoot the works. I would never have known the things I know, were I not open to learning new things. I love knowledge. I would have eaten the Fruit and I would not have been ashamed when God caught me naked. (I would have told him he ain't the boss of me. :lecture)

I myself have never seen or been prescribed to see a psychiatrist in my life.

Me either.

I don't think they will have any trouble being able to ask for Murder 1, but fighting the inevitable insanity please might be tough.

I think this guy was just looking to shoot someone and figured he could use Stand Your Ground to get off. He is going to be pretty surprised in court. :cuckoo:

He wasn't in a situation where he could use stand your ground and if he had been in his house or in his car and the salesman did the proverbial foot in the door trick, his defense would be thin and he still couldn't be justified in any manner for that second shot.

He needs to bank on no premeditation, no motive, all mental illness.

I don't think it's an excuse in the first place. I don't care if they need help. No ____ they need help. Let me flip this switch for them, see how that improves their condition.

:lecture I think George Zimmerman is going to be surprised as well. I'm not convinced the Stand Your Ground applies to his case either, but we'll see once the facts are presented in court.

Still not sure how I feel about this one. I can tell you the media pretty much trashed this story and spun it the way they wanted. Just like everything else they report on.

Gonna have to disagree about Zimmerman. Although he did choose to follow Martin against the advice of police, it is not illegal that he did so. You cannot assault someone for just following you and once Martin attacked Zimmerman and got the upperhand, Zimmerman was within his right to defend himself. Evidence and a polygraph test back up Zimmermans claims of what went down. Although Martin dying was senseless, if Zimmerman is found guilty it will be a miscarriage of justice.

I know. I remember hearing about this case before it blew up thinking it was just another cut and dry shooting. Then the race card got pulled, and here we are.

That's a different case entirely and surprisingly, the racism isn't coming from the shooter. :monkey1

I'm not racist or anything, but if I saw someone walking down the street at night like that I'd definitely watch him to see what he was doing. I wouldn't go chasing after him with my rape whistle, but I'd definitely take some notes on what he was wearing and what direction he was walking.

All that's irrelevant to the shooting. He had injuries consistent with a submissive position in an attack. So while nobody except Zimmerman and Martin know what happened leading up to the confrontation, those facts are indisputable. And in that situation, his pulling of the gun was appropriate. It's a shame the whole thing has been blamed on racism, with the racists doing the fingerpointing. If Martin had been any other ethnicity, this would've just been a weekly news blurb and gone already.

Once the racist "reverends" get involved you know it's going down hill.

Honestly the fact that they let Zimmerman go after his initial interview speaks volumes. The police should be ashamed that they caved to the media's pressure.

"Great White Guilt." If Martin had been white, Hispanic or Asian, it would've been a news blurb and forgotten. :monkey1

I haven't been keeping up with the case that much so I'm not even aware of a polygraph from Zimmerman. And that's why I said I'll wait to see what presents itself in the courtroom. The media has been painting this while thing as a hate crime, but I really don't see it as that.

so what good and HEALTHY reason is there behind seeing a certified psychiatrist? I myself have never seen or been prescribed to see a psychiatrist in my life.

Self improvement. Tom Leykis admits he sees one every few months, just for a little tune up.
