Hate to derail the positive vibe, and yes well done CB.
Pulled these stats for CSI. Thought it might be more appropriate to compare the US to Canada instead of Turkey...
2009 US pop approx 300 Mill

below are your official stats 9500 firearm deaths
https://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/tables/12s0310.pdf

Canada population 2009 appr 30 mill
official stats
https://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-002-x/2010003/article/11352-eng.htm

(what happened in 2005??)

Firearm deaths a whopping 179, evn if you pro rate the data over percentage of the popualtion not even close

Sorry I dont have anything more recent, dont imagine they varied much

Take from it what you want and before you call me a commie..Im indifferent I dont live in the US and dont care what you guys do with or without guns. I just cant get over how people dont see the connection to higher death rates when your population has such easy access to guns.

Simple minds see simple connections. If thats a flame, sorry, but its the honest truth.

Must be, the 9500 firearm deaths were needed, lots of criminals patrolling the streets of Des Moines, just looking for innocent victims to break down the door and terrorize families...loot steal pillage

You ever read an article about the high percentage of Cancer victims that have eaten peanut butter jelly sandwiches in their lifestime? If you did, I bet those sandwiches scare the ____ out of you now.

Again, simple minds make simple connections, grats. :wave

vs. letting convicted cannibal killers walk the streets with nothing more than a single guard and a doctor. Sure, Canada's safer. :lol

nicely skewed data, and it only took you what, an entire day of searching to find stats that matched your mindset?

compare homicide rates per million people, how the murders were committed are not the point. Many other countries that have strict gun control still have a higher homicide rate (not total instances) then the US. If people want to kill they will. Not delineating the data per million (or similar average) severely skews the data, because countries like England are the size of one of our smaller states.

and Deeznutz6 you might want to go back and spend your time actually reading the posts in this thread rather then scouring the internet looking for statistics that fit your mindset. Even other Canadians in here mentioned that guns are making their way into your country illegally. So all your gun control is doing is allowing criminals to have guns, and preventing law abiding citizens from having them. That may seem like a perfectly fair system to you, but I personally don't like those odds. Bottom line you don't like guns you can choose not to have one. What you cannot do is tell us we can't.

Where is the Aussie lady woman runner? More! I'm a 400 pound American and don't get a lot of action.

Bale is a class act for visiting the wounded and paying his respects to the victems.

couldn't agree more. I was especially impressed how he made sure the media wasn't notified ahead of time.

I was able to find some time between digging a trench and boarding up the windows of my home from the masses of gun toting criminals heading north of the border because apparently one cannot defend themselves w/o being prepared....

I simply posted the data, take from it what you want. Like I said Im indifferent. I must be a simpleton if I dont think that giving 10 random people guns wont lead to someone eventually somehow getting shot. Whereas if they had no guns, the odds are alot less. Must be me.

I like many Canadians Im sure will never see the need to own or possess a gun, If you live in a place where you need it to be safe them by all means...

you are 100% right. The presence of guns will always lead to a higher rate of someone getting shot then the complete absence of guns. The point that your either missing or choosing to ignore is that the presence of guns does not always lead to a higher homicide rate. In many instances they lead to a lower homicide rate.

For Everyone here who want our guns (controlled)
