meeting the victims is one thing but that right there had to be incredibly difficult knowing all eyes (and cameras) were on you. Much respect for someone of his notoriety for stepping up and doing that.
I'm pretty sure the rate of gun violence in the U.S. would drop considerably if the criminal element was reduced or eliminated. The number of guns could stay the same, or even rise, and the results would be the same.
I was able to find some time between digging a trench and boarding up the windows of my home from the masses of gun toting criminals heading north of the border because apparently one cannot defend themselves w/o being prepared....
I simply posted the data, take from it what you want. Like I said Im indifferent. I must be a simpleton if I dont think that giving 10 random people guns wont lead to someone eventually somehow getting shot. Whereas if they had no guns, the odds are alot less. Must be me.
I like many Canadians Im sure will never see the need to own or possess a gun, If you live in a place where you need it to be safe them by all means...
sounds like we need Batman incorporated or Avengers Initiative

I was thinking of something more along the lines of changing the way this country dealt with poverty. Crime began to skyrocket in the 70's. It's not hard to figure out why.
curious as to what you suggest.
LBJ's Great Society spawned the American ghetto.
Return this country to a full market economy (with no government doing everything it can to ensure it fails). Phase out welfare down to the last food stamp. Legalize schedule Z drugs to destroy the black market. Repeal all restrictions on labor. Make murder an automatic death sentence and, more broadly, eliminate the concept of leniency in the criminal justice system. Violent crime should be something people fear getting caught for.
Something along those lines. They're good first steps. Remove barriers to wealth creation and opportunity will expand reciprocally, but for ____'s sake, stop rewarding people for being worthless. If people don't want to work for what they have, they can knock on the front door of a church.

That doesn't work for crimes of passion. Punishment is never a deterrent to committing a crime of passion, because people don't think about consequences.
Would polluting the air and water, land, ect, which can kill people be considered murder? When people dump wastes irresponsibly as a part of normal business practice, THAT is something that could be deterred by the death penalty. Cigarette smoking in public, too. Secondhand smoke causes cancer. The death penalty could serve as a deterrent to that perhaps.
It never deters killing in the heat of the moment, because in order for it to do so, people would have to be thinking clearly, which they are not.
Don't you think that will keep companies here?
.More bleak and nihilistic than what the American inner city is today? Do you even know any poor people?
What a load of horse____. Your idealism created this mess. Your nonsense about social Darwinism is historically inaccurate. Progressivism has augmented every social ill from drug abuse to domestic violence.
Enough is enough.
