We've seen that the eyes can be a little different from figure to figure - sorry I didn't jump in earlier, but Dusty is right - the figure has improved from prototype to production (as I noted earlier).

Okay, okay, I don't want to start a flame war, that was not my intention.

Mostly it's just: if you have this figure on order, I would suggest waiting until you have her in-hand to make your final decision. Remember, you can return Sideshow items within 30 days for a full refund FOR ANY REASON. It's not bait and switch, we're not trying to get you to buy something that's not up-to-par!

If you don't like her, you don't like her - that's fine. But honestly, I don't know how you can make that decision without having the figure in-hand because every camera, every photographer, not to mention every computer screen, is different! Plus, they are hand-painted, so some of the figures even differ slightly as well.

I have this same sense of bafflement everytime this happens with a figure, this time my name was sucked into it so here I am :lol

Cheers! :duff

I'm glad it did change (well all changes except the eyes). The vinyl looked ok, but this fabric is MUCH better. Wouldn't there have been issues with using vinyl anyway, stretching and not holding shape and the like?

Or maybe some people just don't like the same things as you?

Yeah, but the figure looks exactly like the pictures that have been on the site for months. The only difference are the eyes are now dynamic.

Arguing about this figure is like going back and arguing about the Plo Koon figure again.

I just got Padme and I feel the same, it turned out better then I thought it would from the prototype pics. Sideshow also got the head size right by the way.

But the eyes are painted Marty Feldmen on mine too. That wouldn't be a reason for me to send it back since they're all like that and it's not too bad, but I have the same exact tear in her costume that KobeLover has:

I just got the figure and it also has the wonky eye.
plus there's a hole in the outfit too
padme2.jpg

It's in the same exact spot, right at the seam.
I'm almost 80% sure I'll be sending this back for a replacment, but I'm wondering if I should also bring up the lazy eye issue if it's possible they can find one with less of an issue?
I'm also not sure if all the Illum Padmes have this tear in her costume since there are two figures with identical holes?
Anyone else have a hole in this spot?

Dusty, in me you kinda have a hooked addict. I rarely cancel :monkey3 Can I ask though WHY the change in eyes? Was it to emulate the GG maquette? If you can't say I understand I'm just curious as that was the first thing I noticed. The arms are odd but I knew that at SDCC.. especially once that proto lost her arm, at least when I saw her :lol

At what point does investing funds to this project not make sense? It all depends on your interest in the character design, for me an Ilum Padme just isn't worth $100 no matter how good it was repainted or whatever. I'd sooner sell the figure on ebay for a slight loss than invest more $ into it.

I'd have to agree with you on that... IMO of course :lol

Dusty...any reason why the box photos on Padme's image gallery don't "go large"?

Monday is when she arrives up here to the very Ilum-like frozen north...lokin' forward to her...

Little late in the day to take decent pics. Will do that tomorrow.

The paint is very well done and the costume came out very nice. I like the way this came out more than what I saw @ SDCC this past summer. The arms are too long but not as bad as I had feared based on the pictures we've seen. I admit though I'm thinking about customizing the arm. The eyes are a tad too surprised looking but fit with the pose I finally decided on. Overall, I'd say this figure is a 7.

Josh, does yours have a tear on her left side at the seam near her waist? I'm thinking this might possibly be a common manufacturing defect on all of them.

I don't really appreciate being called a liar, let's just get that straight.

In case that was directed at me, I don't recall calling you a liar, Dusty. I did say that your earlier comments about the photos on the site being indicative of the final product were a bit misleading, as the new "look to the left" paint job is NOT shown on the official Sideshow site's Padme order page. Take that as you will, but I meant no offense to you personally.

If you notice, there are no photos taken from her right side on our site, as she is meant to have the 'stare to the left' feel.

The pictures on your site seem to disagree with you:

Padme's looking straight ahead in all those shots, no matter how you position the camera.

Look, all I'm saying is that the sudden "paint the eyes looking to the left" thing was a major surprise to all of us who preordered based on the pictures on your site. The eyes on ANH Leia, for instance, were shown before the product shipped, so we knew what to expect. THIS came out of left field. My comments had nothing to do with outfit, sculpt, etc., and are not just paranoia before receiving my figure in hand.

I have nothing but respect for both you and Sideshow. I've been buying these figures like candy since Jedi Luke, and have rarely been unhappy with any purchase (except for the Holochair). I'm not a vocal complainer, generally. But this time I felt a bit mislead as a customer.

The photos seem like the old ones, could be wrong about that. But if you look at the boxed figure clearly has the eyes to the left.

My thoughts. I just got her

I didn't get one with weird eyes. Her robe and belt are awkward but overall I love this figure. Welcome addition.

 All I'm saying is that Dusty mentioned (before those box pics were put up late Thursday) that the photos of the product were so close to final production that there wasn't really a need to update the gallery. The original shots (which are still up), indicate that Padme would have normal eyes, as opposed to the "look to the left" set of the final piece. I meant no harm or insult to anyone here...I was merely pointing out that the gallery was, in fact, somewhat misleading. I don't think there's a "winner" or "loser" here, as I never thought of this as a fight.

I just hope Sideshow doesn't randomly decide at the last minute to change something as drastic as eyes on a portrait again after this. Unlike many collectors on this very site, I was happy about this figure from the get-go. I love the sculpt, really dig the improved costume, etc. The switcheroo on the eyes from production sample to final piece is a bit alarming, as we had no prior indication that this was coming.

got mine today. and now that I have her, I'm a bit disapointed. WHY did they do Snowbunny Padme? I don't belive she won any fan choice poll. Its a dumb lookin fig.
