Anyone else think that Germany & England should just have a penalty shootout to decide things and not bother with the usual 90 minutes and extra time?

You never know, maybe England blows Germany right out of the water? Germany might be winning but they haven't looked all that organized at the back.... And England has only allowed one goal in three, and that was the Robert Green howler v. the USA.

But at least Germany have looked good going forward unlike England. If Germany had Englands defence LOL.

You think you can hold them?

Based on past encounters the possibility of the teams cancelling each other out in normal play cannot be ruled out, even crappy players raise their game against some opposition.

Having said that I predict 2-0 to Germany and thousands of pounds having to be spent repairing all the pubs and other property that will be smashed within minutes of the conclusion.

I like futbol/soccer, too... and would hate to see this turn into yet another tired and futile "American Football vs True Football" debate. But I'll say this... just because it can also be played in 3rd World countries and has been around forever doesn't automatically make it a better game. In other words, it shouldn't matter where the sport is played. But I can certainly understand why those outside of the US are baffled by our football. It's a different sport altogether.

I like American football.
And I agree that you can't compare Football with American football.
One is a National Sport, the other is International that has developed all types of different styles throughout the world. It's great to see how they compare either against each other in World cups, or unite at club level.

Dispite the goal, Germany and Ghana were pretty much even most of the game. So I think England would have had just as tough a game on Sunday if we ended up playing Ghana

The Aussies putted up such a spirited fight!:clap

England will win the next game. The German team is too young, too inexperience.:rotfl

I think England sneak past Germany ....Argentina gets past Mexico and then it's England vs. Argentina in the round of 8

Let's drop the Football v. Soccer debate. Aside from the name there's really nothing the two have in common. You don't see people going into the NBA thread arguing that Football is better than Basketball, right?
I would. I'll fight anyone who says football isn't the best--NASCAR fans, bowling fans, racewalking fans, etc.

:lol I hope the Saints finish dead last this year.

Goal difference is a son of a _____. :lol The game against the Germans came back to bite us in the ass. With that said, the boys played great and I'm proud of both of the performances against Ghana and Serbia, consider we played with 10 men for most of the game (and you Americans thought you had some bad decisions against you? I could write an essay on the ____ty refereeing against us :lol). Time to look forward now. We will be back in Brazil, in four years... damn that's a long time away. :monkey2

Lousy Germans were average against Ghana. That is all I will say. :lol

England should have won by a couple of more goals. Rooney's finishing has been shocking. The USA deserved to go through, but that goal that was "disallowed" was not a surprising decision. If any of you people actually watch football week in week out, 9 times out of 10, you will see those given as offside, even though the rules state that refs should give the advantage to the attacking team.

Oh, and American Football sucks ass. :lecture
