We're out and i'm somewhat gutted. That first game killed us with a poor performance and some rather horrible decisions by both our coach in the first and the ref in both the Germany and Ghana games that really cost us in the end. So frustrating as we are a better team than Ghana and they are yet to score a goal in open play.....oh well will just enjoy the rest of the tourny hoping England,Holland or Spain can take it.

Ghana did not deserve to get past the group stage. For a team that fancies themselves to get to the Semis, they aren't doing very well in front of goal. Who knows though, maybe they will get a few more penalties and reach the final.:rolleyes2

So someone explain this soccer thing to me. Why is it people clap and cheer even when their team misses a shot by kicking it about 25 foot over goal?

The player might have been very skillful to have got himself into a shooting position. The fans clap not for the miss, but for what the player did before the shot, or to applaud a player who set up the attempt on goal. It's definitely what helped the USA go on to get the last minute goal, because every attempt before just made the fans cheer harder

Germans need to work on their defense. It's very skimpy. I hope they can pull it together against England who are the better team.

They are mostly a young team who will definitely get better.
Whether it will be during this World Cup, we will know by Sunday.
I have to say it's a different type of German team that I am used to seeing in previous world cups. They seem to have lost a bit of Power and Strength to their play. Ozil's goal was the only time I thought, yeah that's the Germany we all know and "love".

Talking of Ozil, he seemed to have some problems with his hamstring at the end of the match.

They may not have the experience yet, but when they hit their peak, I can see them winning the next world cup (even the one after that). No problem. They will only get better from here.

Side note: I love it how America doesn't give a sh@t about football (soccer)...but now Landon Donovan is a GOD on TV!
Same thing happened with Michael Phelps! -___-

Anywayz...I'm super excited for todays' Netherlands match!!! :rock

A lot of countries hop on the bandwagon so to speak.

Nice sig Bam but all this time i was thinking you were a girl.:slap :wink1:

Go the Dutch and the All Whites who have a difficult game against Paraguay who have been travelling well.....and oh how could i forget Italy to lose.:yess:

Not everyone feels that way, football(soccer) is still catching on here.

And :yess: Landon Donavan is da man!

True...But I'm talking about the Media. They never show football on TV here....in fact we have to subcribe to the Soccer Channel just to watch a match....and they never really give the good ones.

I'm just saying that now hat USA had that epic game yesterday....Donovan is all over the place. I was watching a gossip show and they where talking about his Ex- Wife and all the juicy details of how they got divorce.

I just always think it's annoying when the media does that. I mean...don't you remember the whole Michael Phelps phase. He was all over the place for months after the Beijing games....he even hosted SNL!!! :horror

I mean...yeah...it's cool to be proud and stuff....but not over saturatingly (if thats a word :lol) proud.

Ok...I'm off my soapbox.

Onto tonight's matches... I'm not sure if the Italians will win this one, since they have been playing some very average football and I really hope they lose, but you never know. Paraguay are a great team, and they'll show New Zealand how it's done, and bring them back down to Earth. Go Paraguay! :lol

Japan vs Denmark will be an interesting one. It should be a close match, and it's a must-win for both teams. I can't pick a winner at the moment. The Dutch haven't been playing their best football, yet, but they will come good. Hopefully Robben will be fit soon, but even without him, they will win this match against Cameroon.

Ballack being absent is hurting the team, esp in the midfield. But I agree, there's plenty of room for improvements for the Germans from here on out.
