I genuinely don't know how I forgot Chef and The Drop. I'd probably put Chef above Boyhood and The Drop above Gone Girl, honestly.

I've been trying to find The Drop online and I can't find it anywhere. I'm going to have to wait for the Blu ray I guess but I'm extremely excited to watch it.

Forgot about Chef. Great movie. Loved it, except for:

the fact that in the end he ends up working FOR yet another person. I thought his whole journey of self-discovery was that he needed to be his own boss. The critic telling him he could do whatever he wanted was the same line the original restaurant owner (Hoffman) sold him on years before. Did he not learn his lesson the first time?

There's a directors' cut? Yeah, that was one hell of a ride as well.

Yeah, 5.5 hours long. Although I watched the 2 parts back to back in the cinema, I enjoyed the first part much more. Hopefully more was cut from the second part that is now reinserted. It felt a bit rushed.

I can't really put them in an order I think, I enjoyed all for different reasons:

I really liked Chef for being a feel-good movie without over the top kitsch and clichés, and without fake/forced drama just to make the climax "better". And all the cooking was so inspiring. :D
Gone girl didn't have any outstanding/memorable acting IMO, but the twists and turns of the story were simply so much fun.
I loved Hardy in the Drop, he's such a versatile actor. Really enjoyed him in Locke as well.
Boyhood I enjoyed mostly for the concept (obviously), but story-wise it's nothing special.

My personal top favorites were whiplash, nymphomaniac, and enemy, though.

This year I saw:

Gone Girl
How to train your dragon 2
X-Men Days of Future Past
Amazing Spider-Man 2
Guardians of the Galaxy
Dawn of The Planet of The Apes
Transformers 4

Enjoyed pretty much all of them

Of the 2015 movies I'm Looking forward to:

Star Wars
Kingsmen
Hateful Eight
Fantastic Four
Jurassic World
Minions
Mad Max

Wow! Long live Star Wars!

By 2915 I expect there to be real world versions of either Mad Max or Jurassic World. ;)

Let's see...

1.Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
2.Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3.Guardians of the Galaxy
4.X-Men:Days of Future Past
5.Interstellar
6.Edge of Tomorrow
7.Nightcrawler
8.Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
9.John Wick
10.Gone Girl

Honorable Mentions: Boyhood. A great (literal) coming of age film.
Jersey Boys. It's Clint Eastwood and the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, c'mon.
The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. Probably my favorite Hobbit movie, but there just wasn't enough room on the list.

Good list, but you need Whiplash near the top. Nightcrawler was my favorite of the year.

I enjoyed quite a few movies this year:

Guardians of the Galaxy
Interstellar
Edge of Tomorrow
X-Men Days of Future Past
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Hobbit Battle of Five Armies
Gone Girl

Boyhood was a decent film and it was a great accomplishment to film over 12 years, but if it hadn't been for that, it would have been a forgotten film imho.

The Interview was just stupid beyond belief. A film with cheap laughs and without it's cinema ban, would have gone largely unnoticed.
