I think it's far more likely that some drunk athletes got robbed then them conspiring to harm Brazil's "illustrious" reputation.

Look like Lochte's and the other swimmer's story is beginning to unravel...

Video footage has emerged that shows them vandalizing a gas station. The station owner and/or security card demanded payment, and the refused to pay until the security guard waved a stun gun at them.

IF true, way to represent America...

Just walked by my office's TV and CNN got their hands on the surveillance issue and are airing the footage. They requested comments from Lochte and his attorneys, but haven't received any comment yet. Other news outlets have reported that two of the swimmers have told police the story was fabricated. SMH

I haven't seen anything about a video, just a change of story from the two swimmers that had their passports taken. It's still possible he was so hammered that he thought the robbery really happened, but if he told the other guys that he was making up the story and they should go along then he's toast. USA swimming could ban him permanently if that's the case.

Youre really giving him the benefit of the doubt. He was so drunk he thought someone pulled a gun on him? That kind of thing you probably dont forget.

Turns out there was no gun. Looks like the whole thing was made up to cover their own criminal behavior.

There really was armed security that told them to get out of the cab and sat them down on curb with their hands in the air. There's just enough of the truth in his story that it leaves some doubt as to whether he knew he was lying, however you can't prove that unless the other swimmers corroborate. There are plenty of people who get so drunk they don't remember what happened the night before. It happens. Lochte is a douche so he probably is guilty of lying.

Damn it.. USA blew the women's indoor volleyball gold opportunity again. Kerry got beach bronze. Phil got eliminated. Felix got silver. Women's soccer got eliminated early.

Only thing that USA dominated in gold so far is Women's gymnastics and swimming. Hopefully the women's water polo gets a gold.

Difficult Olympics, although I thought it was rude for the Brazilian fans to root for Serbia in the indoor women's volleyball semi final match considering Brazil won't be in the gold or bronze medal match.

It's interesting though how the USA has been getting odd gold medals like women's wrestling

Here's an edited version of the video

Here's a another video but it ends before they are sat on the ground.

This is the Lochte statement released after the incident.
"We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over," Lochte told NBC on Sunday afternoon. "They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground — they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn't do anything wrong, so — I'm not getting down on the ground.
And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, 'Get down,' and I put my hands up, I was like 'whatever.' He took our money, he took my wallet — he left my cell phone, he left my credentials"

So yeah, it's at a gas station and they weren't pulled over but they were forced to get out of the cab and you can see the swimmers putting their hands up when they get out so there had to be at least one weapon drawn. Even when he says "we didn't do anything wrong", that sounds like something he actually would have said in the situation.

Why do this Ryan, his Olympics was a dud aside from the team gold. Why take it out on Brazil, he already has a shaky rep, why would he make his image worse :slap

Because ******* :dunno

There goes some of his endorsement deals , not that some companies probably dropped some deals already for his behavior.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 will have an article " Ryan Lochte..broke and in debt " :slap

I'm not trying to win any internet awards or cred, but honestly, I knew his story was fishy from beginning with his tough guy story of him standing up to the gunman while the others layed down.

I think it just snowballed out of control. He told his mom offhand that he was robbed, not expecting anything to come out of it, then SHE mentioned it to the press, and he was backed into a corner.

The crappy thing is that Locte hightailed it out of Rio and left the others to take the fall.

Eaton wins Decathlon Gold..Finally somebody living up to the hype in Track and Field for Team USA :clap

Oh I completely agree with that. **** move for sure. Funny enough, the police kind of support his story while debunking it at the same time.

CNN
The investigation showed security guards stopped the athletes from leaving the station until police could be called about the vandalism; and one did pull a gun on Lochte after he became angrily confrontational, Veloso said.
But Veloso insisted there was no evidence the guard's actions were unreasonable, and he only used the gun to control Lochte, whom the police chief described as drunk.
