They were in the middle of some serious political conflict as it was. And they weren't exacty beggin for foreign aid.

There was nothing wrong with the attempts to help the citizens of New Orleans before it happened. What was insane was the attitude in the aftermath that the only reason anyone died was because the government didn't do enough. Which is bull. What the hell did they themselves do to save themselves? They demanded that someone help them (exactly what they had always done).

I agree. A big part of the nation believes the government is there to bail us all out of trouble. Unfortunately a big part of the government and the politicians believe that too.

New Orleans had a mayor that didn't react, a governor that didn't react and them they blamed the Feds. They were incompetent but the Burmese government is just evil.

Tragedies like these are always depressing. First there was the Asian Tsunami of 2004, then the earthquake in Northern Pakistan in 2005 and now this. The Burmese government should've been overthrown long ago for its genocide and human rights abuses. But all that seems pretty insignificant right now in the wake of this travesty. Let's pray that enough help can reach the victims to prevent further deaths and ailments.
