I love how he gained access to the embassy. Classic "ends justify the means" Jack Bauer.

Loved the phone call with Heller - the tension of waiting to see Audrey's reaction - and the finger chopping. I'm pretty sure it nearly hit the camera!

Oh man, I know! How despite what everyone thinks of him, how he just DGAF how people perceive him or his "mission" aside, as soon as he's on the phone with Heller, it's "Yes, sir" and all that.

And as soon as it came to "he'll pilot the drone no matter what" I knew where that would lead.

next episode will be predictable. drone fires at target. jack helps out. all in the next hour.:lol

^dammit :(

Just watching 3rd episode, I dunno why but I find it funny hearing Jack say 'pub'

That's funny you mention that, as my friend and I were watching and we laughed at just that for some reason.

Bummer about the low ratings. I have to admit, at first I wasn't too excited for it's return, but as soon as I started watching the first episode, I was hooked again.

I'll reply my own question: baaad ratings :(

Roughly 5 million viewers... looks like this is gonna be Jacks last stand! :(

... what a shame... :(

Probably not... I read that 24 was doing better than many of Fox's other shows. But, yeah, it'll be a shame if this is the last season.

Keep in mind, this is a 12-episode run, not a 24-episode run. Its more comparable to a cable show (like Sons of Anarchy or Justified) than its old run as a network show. Its timeframe is shorter. Its budget is lower. It ratings probably don't have to be completely astronomical to justify itself.

For what its worth -- Justified's latest season finale drew 2.37M viewers (an FX show, so also owned by Fox). The latest episode of 24 drew 5.7M.

That's not even considering the ratings +7 (which includes 7-day DVR viewing). And, 24 has always been a big show for binge DVD viewing, rather than live viewing. I think its doing fine.

It still just boggles my mind that after ~9 years, people don't just let Jack Bauer do whatever he wants, the dude has . . . NEVER. . . been wrong. Why stop him?? He could get so much more done, if you just got out of his way.

I really hope you're right, because that last episode, and season 9 so far, probably rank among the best 24 seasons. Still, I wonder what ratings they were expecting. Personally, I thought they'd be higher than that! But judging from even the lack of interest this thread garners, I guess that people have already forgotten about Jack... :(

I missed the episode last night, but just finished watching it on Hulu :slap. I loved Jack's reunion with Audrey, but I hope they don't get back together :lol.

I can't say I was surprised that Margot killed Naveed. Such an unfortunate end for that kid.

I can see them sort of rushing things due to the 12-episode season. I wish they just made it 24.

Oh, not at all. The season has actually been somewhat slow-paced, so far. The show still retains its usual format, with all of the events being done in real time. But, the producers plan to skip 12 hours ahead, around Episode 8 or 9. From what I've read, there's going to be some traveling in-between the episodes - with someone getting on a plane.

They've got to work with what Fox gave them, unfortunately. I loved the original 24 episode format as well, but the pacing of this 12 episode season has been fairly good, in my opinion.
