I'm telling you that 6 inch will have OVERALL more depth than 3.75 in shorter time. In the roughly 6 years that The Black Series has existed it's put out around 260 unique figures. If you include the archive UPDATED repacks (Meaning archive line with new faces) or special paint chase variants (Carbonized) that number goes up to almost 300. And it's 6th year has only just begun with plenty more figures on the way.

To put that into perspective the original vintage line ran for almost twice that amount of time with about 1/3 of the amount of figures. The current staple of 3.75, the vintage collection, has about the same current life span of roughly 6 years. It has around 200 figures total and about 25 or more of those are just re-packs (with or without updated face paint like the black series archive line)

In a short amount of time, 6 inch has built up a vast amount of characters covering over 10 films and 3 television shows.

And new stuff still contributes to depth though. Thats depth of the newer stuff. 3.75 has depth of the older stuff. But if 3.75 continues at its pace and 6 inch now doesn't have new films to keep up with it will also begin to be depth of the older stuff. So yeah its still incredibly short sighted to not see how 6 inch will one day cover the depth 3.75 has. ESPECIALLY if 3.75 continues on it's current trajectory and even more so if it comes to an end all together (which it always seems to be on the verge of).

You still haven’t answered my questions and have once again changed the argument, this time to the original vintage stuff :lol

And you’re using a line that covered only 3 movies from 77-85 from a small company in Cincinnati, against a line that has to cover 11 movies and 3 TV Shows from a company worth billions :lol

And if you want to talk about 6 year stretches, from 2005-2010 3.75” released 1100+ figures.

Because you fail to see beyond your own hand in front of your face. Moat of those figures are obsolete with janky articulation.

It's cool dude. TBS has been prequel focused as of late so I'll revisit this thread in time as TBS starts putting out characters like Sabe in Queen decoy battle disguise and Padme in her Naboo battle handmaiden outfit. And all they have to do is swap heads for more handmaidens.

Yep even though 3.75 is my preferred scale for SW "toys" we'll see if I can pass on that awesome snowspeeder. I kind of regret not getting the 6 inch ST on dewback so there have been items that did win me over.

I would never collect 6 inch as a line but I think they can work nicely as part of a mixed scale display. Like say have the dewback or snowspeeder next to a 1:1 helmet, lightsaber, couple carded 3.75 and a statue or something.

That?s a really good idea. Damn it, now I?m questioning if I should get it :lol Worst case I sell it back, best case it makes for an epic Hoth Theme Mixed Display...

This coming from somebody who has to change the argument every reply :lol. The Rogue One figures rotted on shelves and had to be sold for $5. Main characters, from a brand new movie, didn’t sell at 6”. Jyn Erso didn’t sell. Cassian didn’t sell. But Rabe, Sabe, Valorum will? You’ll be waiting forever.

Most of the post 2005 figures are great for their price point. I don’t need extreme poses anyways. Vader can clinch his fist. Palpatine can shoot his lightning. Jedi can hold their lightsaber with both hands. Clones can shoot from one knee or get a running pose.

No we are talking about the same thing. Those 3.75 figures are single jointed knees compared to the black series which have double jointed the knees. The black series has waaaaay more range of motion because of this. That's why the Cave of Evil 3.75 Luke has the big pinned joints because they tried to give 3.75 more articulation but it looks even worse.

And now Hasbro is redesigning those double knees for 6 inch so they look as smooth as single jointed knees while retaining the double jointed range of motion

They cost $40 to $50 not $90. With shipping its $50 to $60. Some of them even cost $20 to $30 and are available here in the case of Bandai Action figure model kits. Regardless of price, it doesnt take away from the variety 6 inch has with company choices (and price ranges).

Oh, okay. Well, for me, I don't put Bossk or Luke (or the vast majority of figs for that matter) in crazy yoga poses - really just variants on how they are in the movies.

I would rather have "only" the ability to get the knee joint to around 90 degrees and have the articulation mechanics basically hidden vs have the ability to push the heel all the way around and up to the backside or crazy ninja poses and have very visible articulation mechanics at all times, even in fairly a neutral pose - the pose most people use.

I mean it's really kind of silly - that for the sake of the 1 in 100 people who do extreme poses they would have this ugly chunky "kneecap" look and double gaps along with very visible holes above and below. Makes no sense but glad they have now fixed it.

Other than the fact that a surprising number of 6" figs came out very strangely (undersized R2 and Zuckuss, wonky IG and Bossk etc) it was this strange all-too-visible articulation choice that always undermined the realism for me. Now that they are fixing it - and just in time for a major ESB blast - will maybe push me into buying a lot more of these.

Similar to what TaliBane is saying I've always wondered is the ability for a figure to tilt his head like a curious puppydog really worth it when your figure ends up looking like this

Tha fuq is with that gargantuan gap at the back of his head. And if it's not there it'll be at the front. Hideous.

Ball joint heads can actually be done well ^ there's no excuse for that though.

More surface room for quality while still avoiding the space killing foot print of 8? and above for human size plastic action figures.

In other words like the Marvel Select but SW.

I've never really found them to be distracting honesty. Yeah they CAN look ugly in certain poses and angles. But they allow for some great dynamic poses. It's not about doing yoga lol. Its about action poses true to the source material (ok ONE of these is basically yoga lol)

And in neutral poses you dont really see them either. Especially when the rest of the figure looks so realistic.

And now that Hasbro is changing the knees, yeah it's a moot point anyway. But still, I think they serve their purpose

Damn, there's some nice pics in there.:clap That one with Lando on Bespin is just epic.

That very first pic of ceremonial Luke shows exactly what I mean though - his knee/leg looks like a lever used to change the tracks for a train.:lol Just way too visible and mechanical looking. Instantly saying "toy" despite the stellar rest of the pic.

And you could have gotten a just-as-convincing action pose on that leg using a 3 3/4" type hidden joint that could go almost to 90 degrees. :dunno

For 90% of poses it just really isn't necessary to have that much bendability. And in the meditating TLJ Luke pic, even though the fig is capable of doing that amount of leg bend, to me the open joints is just too distracting/glaring for it to work.

And while I absolutely LOVE that Bossk pic (setting, lighting, angle etc, - just perfect) the fig itself lets it down. He's probably my all-time creature fave, and that fig has so many issues it's a joke. His head looks like Red Skull and those tiny hands, goofy sausage-toes feet and oversized pipes/straps. The big articulation holes are the least of its issues.

After such amazing effort on Fett and Dengar, I REALLY hope Hasbro does a V.2 of Bossk, the IG-88 embarrassment and mini-me Zuckuss.

Thanks dude!

Yeah I just personally prefer having access to the extra articulation whether I need it or not. Theres nothing I hate more than fighting the articulation to set up a pose. Being able to push a joint that extra few percent is the difference between the pose looking like stiff plastic or a natural person.

Theres almost no 3.75 figures that can do a kneeling pose that looks natural and comfortable

You also really can't do a good kneeling pose without double jointed knees unless the figure was specifically sculpted with that in mind. Like some of the 3.75 blockade runner rebels. And even then.

But yes, I agree that the knee looks bad in that shot, as it can at time. I'm excited for the updated articulation. Which is actually what the Japanese Star Wars figures have. They have single jointed knees and elbows that are designed to get a double jointed range of motion.

This is basically what hasbro is going to implement soon

Hidden joint with the ability to get double joint range like true kneeling

And everything in between

Absolutely incredible shots. I'm saving some of those if you don't mind.

I agree with TaliBane on the joints though. If a joint looks really awful when it is merely being used as intended I don't think it's worth it in the first place - not when the rest of the time you're also stuck with a figure looking like it's wearing kneepads and with visible holes on the sides of the legs.

I do 3.75 stuff too if you've never seen my work before. I'm pretty sure I've shared it here before. I just prefer 6 inch for many of the reasons I've been stating. I find the average 3.75 figure to just be too limiting and lacking range. Theres great depth, but much of it is vastly outdated.

ShootingtheGalaxy those are some of the best action figures pics I've ever seen. I see why you prefer that scale.

My posing needs are much simpler when it comes to Hasbro/Kenner since all I ever really want them to do is look cool standing on a shelf or sitting in a vehicle or even just look cool mint on card.

Kenner Bossk was about as articulated as the actual Bossk. No need for fancy joints :lol

Damn. That's a really painful broken leg jumping the crate. Serious surgery needed after that.
