I've read and reread the posts in my thread and tried to look at things objectively. I've never thought of myself as scummy, but I kinda do now with this. This purchase was a whim. Saw it on an auction with only a few minutes to go and bought it. I don't want to support recasters and don't want to do anything that would damage SS over the long haul. 400.00 isn't that important to me so....

:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap That's all I have to say. Well done.

On a personal note, I think some anger from other freaks couldve been prevented by simply excluding the statement "it's just money"..... Not all of us are fortunate enough to afford these statues. It just sounds arrogant and displays poor sportsmanship. It'd be one thing to land a piece from SS when it originally was on sale (kudos to you who ever does) but to be able to sling the high dollar in the aftermarket for a Grail and kinda flaunt is just, well, arrogant!!

I see what your intentions are here, and they DEF hold true to the hobby and show your loyalty. But just consider that some don't have a much money as others, and that's NOTHING to ever rub in someones face.... But yes this is your money, and you can do whatever you want with it :D

What's SO bad about a recast? It's sold out at SS. It's not like SS is being ripped off from future profits due to this. It's not like a fake Rolex that can steal money from the company that makes the real product. SS's edition size is sold out and GONE. They won't be making more of them so is a recast really that bad as long as it's advertised as a recast and not an authentic SS product?

Yes, someone is making money off of SS's original product by recasting it, but they still have to put the effort in to cast it and paint it so big deal IMO. I know many here won't feel as I do, but I don't see the big deal.

People just want to feel moral about something, so they will take a stand against something that has zero affect on their daily life.

i.e. "Recasting is wrong, by buying a recast you are "supporting" this horrible practice that is destroy our hobby", look at me I have high moral standards.

But when the "immoral" act can have a direct affect on their life, people aren't so moral.

Anyone driving a car here, better stop now. Many parts are outsourced to foreign nations and made under questionable labor practices by under age workers. Driving your car to work everyday is "supporting" child labor.

"HELL NO! I cant live without my car!!"

I dont see many people riding their high horses to work everyday :)

Everyone here is a hypocrite, so quit your high horsing about custimizer, or anyone else, buying recasts.

WTF!

When I said it's just money it was not meant to imply I am well off. I'm an hourly paid working Joe. I meant in the grand scheme of life...it's just money. There are so many more important things than a little cash. Your piece of mind and self esteem for instance. Everyone from a company CEO to someone barely making it on welfare can relate to those terms I would think. Don't take it so personally. No rubbing was implied.

Very true! Morals are often subject to personal experience and ability to act in a "moral way". Stealing is wrong, but if your starving people want to make an exception. To quote Simpons "What if your family really likes to smoke....is it immoral to steal cigeretts? HELL NO!!"

Is this truly documented? Usually when companies discover (or are faced with the discovery) of something like this, they will try and correct the situation. As for people buying cars, they are led to believe that the car is manufactured following morals and not infringing on human rights.

No, usually when the PUBLIC finds out about something like that the company tries to correct the situation. Its nieve to think that the company gives a damn about sweat shops in mylasia unless the discovery of such conditions threaten thier bottom line!

edit: After re-reading your statement that may have been your point as well...so...I agree:D

Noted :) I wasn't taking offense really, it just reminds me of when I used to be part of a car show team. Don't know of you've ever been to a car show (hot import nights) But the basis of the hobby is to see who has the most money spent on their car and flaunt it!!! Some car clubs just share the hobby and hang out as family and friends in good fun. But when you got arrogant thugs talkin smack about your car and what a POS it is when you don't have a set of $5k rims like they do, it's just unenjoyable at that point. So when I see people flaunt money, I get a little irritated. But you're not, I know that :)

I agree completely, but that being said...I am pretty sure that buying a recast would in no way harm me, my family or in any way change my over all self image! So I give you props on being a far better man than I :joy

I wasn't around for all the recasting drama that happened over the weekend, but I applaud what you did. :clap
