It's only one photo that makes the sculpt look off. The rest of the shots look pretty good IMO. The dress could be longer it appears at least.Overall, it still looks nice and will look respectable on display though I read someplace where a member said these 1:6th would never look that way.

The pic of the proto in the banner still looks pretty nice, imho.

I'm ordering this today and I will give it the benefit of the doubt because I want to have one of each of the 10-12 iconic characters from ANH. But if the final figure doesn't pan out, I'll cancel. Simple as that.

I must say that Sideshow RULES for how easy their ordering/cancellation system is.

Part of the issue, remember, is that the dress has been put on rather poorly, giving her broader shoulders, clumsy gestures, and poor proportions. They have to adjust the gown to make her look natural; it will affect the sculpt, the features, and the paint job. I'll hold out for better pictures, because what ruins it is the poorly dressed figure, not the sculpt.

At least that's my opinion.

Agreed.

Sideshow should seriously consider contracting someone like Dave Myatt to "futz" and photograph their prototype and production figures.

I like the sculpt, but my issue is with the length of the dress. It appears to be almost at her shins, halfway up them, when (i think) it should be an ankle lenght dress.

Looking forward to ordering this in the next half-hour. I too wish her "buns" where a little bigger on the sculpt, the length of her dress increased, and please, someone...does the belt in the proto pics look cheap? This needs to be addressed also.
All in all, I'm sure Sideshow will weave their magic on this iconic figure, and class this little Princess up.

It's funny how many of us are on the fence and complain about how bad it looks but she still sells out in record time. :lol

This shot just kills me though. They are trying to pose her in the same pose as the PF Leia and it looks like she's a freaking mannequin. This is the ULTIMATE example of how the PF smokes the 1:6 Leia:

No, the main problem is that Sideshow hasn't done a major revamp of their basic 1/6 female body since their first female, Buffy back in '01.
All the other companies have done redesigns on their basic bodies, it's time Sideshow cached up.

Man has Sideshow Price gouged these figures. Jedi Luke was $49.99 and came with more, Now they want us to pay $54.99 for Leia.

No amount of playing with the dress can make up for the length. I agree with Memnoch21. Like I said, the sculpt is fine, but the length of the dress needs to be fixed. I was hoping more fans would say something about it, because it is a really easy fix. But if people say it looks great, Sideshow will not fix it. To me, that is a real bummer, because the PF is correct and the 1/6th scale is not. That should not have anything to do with the price of the two figures (even though for 55.00 for a non import is rather pricey).

Cheers,

Brad

I would like someone to post pics of the Hasbro Leia's clothes.

I hope they look better than the nonvintage-Kenner:

Wow 10% is gouging? 3%-4% is just inflation. So ok we have a 6%-7% increase, thats not very much at all.

I don't think that was him point. I think the point is that Sideshow hasn't improved their bodies but they have increased their prices (also Leia has less accessories and a much simply outfit than Jedi Luke). The gouging he refers to (atleast from what I can tell) is that they are increasing prices but not improving their product. Screamingmetal is saying that Sideshow is stuck in 2001, whereas other 1/6th companies have moved on and improved their bodies.

Regardless what you say it doesn't change the fact that 10% is not gouging. They are giving us the same thing for just about the same price.

Would you prefer they charge us 150 and give us a great body?

We could argue back and forth on what you would consider gouging. We're getting less then Jedi Luke for $5 more. Leia's costume is far less elaborate then Luke's costume and has less material. And they've already reused Leia's blaster with Yavin Luke and I can guarantee you that Stormtrooper blaster will be heavily reused.
She should be less then Jedi Luke not more.

And it doesn't take $150 for Sideshow to give us a better body, Dragon, Blue Box, Ignite, Medicom, and Hot Toys never overcharged on their figures that sported new improved bodies (Hot Toys figures were always in the $100's).

Really, well, there are a lot of Hot Toys figures for less than $100. Rambo, Colonial Marines... all at the $80 mark. Point is, that's only $25-$30 more with a superior body and outstanding costuming. I would not have a problem paying for a Sideshow figure at the $70 range if the body were proportionate and articulated like the NGL and had some improvements to factory paints. Sideshow needs to compete but they need to step up the quality a bit first, THEN they can raise the price.
