The TX is the Terminatrix from T3 rise of the machines.

The one on display at the LCS went about half way up the shaft as well. They attributed it to a weakened battery.

Don't listen to them, mine is plugged into the wall and it still only lights up about 3/4 of the way.

It does seem to be an issue with getting full connection.
I noticed with my own Aayla, if I simply rock her right foot back and forth, the light on her lightsaber will turn off upto half-way down.

I hope that can be helpful to those having issues with this poor design.

I guess you have to remember that the same people installing these electronics are the same as those making the cheap 1 dollar flash lights they put in vending machines.
