So that's why Shakespeare In Love beat Saving Private Ryan, Crash beat Brokeback Mountain and The Hurt Locker beat Inglorious Basterds.

Mystery solved, my dear Watson.

Really...you thought Inglorious Basterds was better than Hurt Locker? Don't get me wrong...Basterds was terrific, but typical Tarentino fair...indulgent, campy and somewhat fantastical...even for a movie, I mean. Hurt Locker was real, gritty and showed that for some, a normal life is misery, but walking the wire everyday is truly living...for this character, not in general. I agree with you on Private Ryan. Crash vs. Brokeback is a tough call. Both dramas and both tackling 2 deep subjects; racism and homosexual prejudice. I can't say I liked one more than the other.

Also why ____ing Slumdog millionare beat The Dark Knight - or wait, The Dark Knight wasn't even nominated for Best Picture nor was Nolan for Director! Biggest facepalm in history

How the hell can somebody be posthumously be invited. No disrespect to the late Tim Heatherington, but that is something that doesn't make sense.

Can I get an Amen?

No you can't. Slumdog was better than Dark Knight. No question.

I doubt that. It wasn't that great. Not to mention, The Dark Knight at least deserved to be nominated.

Point is it deserved a nomination at LEAST in the Director category but also in the best film. The following year they had 10 films nominated for best film. In 2008 and prior it was only 5.

l really didn't even like The Hurt Locker. it was exaggerated. made the soldiers out to be like cow boys. which the real ssoldiers this was based on complained about.

anyway l thought it was funnny when the chick who directed that movie (James Camerons ex wife) won the academy award and beat Cameron's Avatar. l bet when he went home that night he punched a few holes in the wall.:lol

I love how this has turned into a pissing match over which movie is better. Who cares...it's all subjective.

Yeah which is better is fairly subjective but the question of Nolan being snubbed for best director nomination and TDK for a film nomination is more clear cut
