Silly he's being so negative about Asmus because its looking like ACI will win the likeness contest (with Aragorn) which means they'll likely win the war with Asmus for LOTR.

I could see either company really taking the gold. Asmus hasn't disappointed me before. I bet they'll come back with a awesome reworked Aragorn.

Nothing about Asmus' past figures has me thinking they will turn it around.

Gothmog is totally off from the source material, I can't understand why people accepted it. Everything else Asmus has done is based on cartoon characters, so it's hard to judge how good the sculpt is, considering it doesn't have realistic proportions anwyas.

Remember how bad sculpts were when HT first started? A company can turn itself around.

HT figures back in the day were still miles better than anyone else's. And Asmus has been around for years, if they wanted to turn around, they could've done so already.

Witch-king's helmet is metal -- it will bend, maybe snap with serious force but it will not shatter. He has no hammer but if you mean the mace, not sure how you would break that unless you were really trying. Sounds like you were. Same goes for Gothmog's club -- I've dropped it several times on hardwood floors and its fine.

But keep trying, ACI insider. :)

:exactly: the first thing I dropped was the head, and nothing moved (although one of the spike behind the head came bent out from the box). Asmus figure didn't reach my expectation so I just sold it off & I would do the same with ACI if that's the case. (Especially with the price tag like that)

Mate, I guess we better avoid to convey negative comments to Asmus, otherwise there will be 1 or more insiders here for ACI! ( I been judged so!)
I don't really care! If their goods are good, customers will buy. If they are no good, no matter how hard you promote here will be failure! If one company making poor products, no one can help here to save them(no matter which company, big or small, A or B?!)
I will stop here and will have no comment for Asmus, in order to avoid useless debate on 2 companies!
Except the below one : (this is just copied from this thread)
>>Silly he's always being so negative about ACI ..... <<
I don't have time to read through all their history, but seems their recent posts showing they are real die hard fans of Asmus! That's none of my business, so, enjoy!
Forums are free space to speak! I will accept others opinions no matter I do agree it or not! I don't comments on others comments.
Wishing here all with neutral, positive and construtive participation to make the community fruitful! This is what the way to make our forums "cool" and survive!

That's the truth.

And as I said before, it looks like you guys are going to win the Aragorn battle so be happy with that. I'll be buying the one that I think is the best representation within cost constraints.

Be best for you and Asmus to focus on non-competing characters. There's so many in Middle Earth, seems like plenty to do without even crossing paths.

Well,
the truth is, ACI only has license for Ringwraith and Aragorn for HK,
and we have everything...

So, not too sure about competing, because we concentrate only on LOTR & Hobbits with an attitude,
and time will tell it.

I agree on ACI hasn't been hands on with the license as much as we hope comparing to you guys at Asmus.
But having only 2 characters? I'm pretty sure they mentioned doing Lurtz, which I'm patiently anticipating for.

My boss doesn't like us to speak about it
So I will stop here before getting in trouble.

All I can say is, my boss has tried very hard to avoid competition by any aspect.
such as holding back the announcement of Ringwraith until ACI finished collecting orders.

And keeping us quite to information such as "above"

I (and assuming people here as well) appreciate you participating on talks and sharing information and won't want to see you getting in trouble for doing so. We'll just have to wait and see how things go.

Again, thank you Asmus guy. Stay frosty.

Interesting update. Changes the whole game. Based on Ringwraith, I believe ACI has priced itself out of my pocketbook anyway.

I've got Witch-King, Gothmog and eagerly -- impatiently -- await Guritz and Gandalf from Asmus.

Yes! Thank you for coming on here and participating! I think Asmus and ACI have done a great job in participating and sharing stuff with us.

You can add Aragorn and Ringwraith with horse for me and you can also add ACI Aragorn and Ringwraith. As long as these figures come spaced out and the quality and price point are there I plan on getting them all. ACI is on the really expensive side for me but if they are only producing one or two figures a year I will probably do want I can to get them as long as they follow throgu hwit the quality.

If the ACI is a complete homerun I'd pay the extra price... but at least from the last image I'm not thrilled with the head. I know lighting, etc. can play a factor but that doesn't even look like Greg's sculpt to me :huh

I would be interested to know why you assume this. ACI has issued no such statement to suggest this.

This is curious too as you guys have plans for so many figures yet you release teasers/behind the scenes pics of the same characters just after announcements from ACI.

Bad form. This kind of strategy doesn't help anyone.

It is. I promise :) As soon as official pics have been signed off on hopefully it will come through.

And the battle goes on.

Who to believe....?

Who has the goods...?

Who knows?

But its all fun. Can't wait for the official release. I doubt either will live up to expectation, but we'll all see one day.
