"One of the light-up statues was given to Robert Downey Jr. to celebrate the first day of filming on Iron Man"

That makes me sick. Why kiss his ass like that, Sideshow? Do you really think he deserves it on top of all the money, or what? I'm very disappointed in you.

Yeah, how dare you comemerate an actor's participation on a film with a collectible?! The nerve! :monkey1

I am not going to bid on this one, but I AM on others. :monkey3

I seriously doubt they'll rerelease the first one. I do think they'll have different statue versions of the Iron Man movie suit, one might even light up, but they won't be at all like the first Comiquette release.

READ THIS MAN:

This auction is for a real treasure, one of only two ever made, a prototype of the Iron Man Comiquette featuring working lights built into the armor. Excited about the upcoming Iron Man movie, the development team at Sideshow returned to the previously released Iron Man Comiquette to develop a new edition of the statue, with working lights and a new paint scheme. The working lights were developed before the new paint was ready, and two pieces were produced with the traditional red/gold armor. One of the light-up statues was given to Robert Downey Jr. to celebrate the first day of filming on Iron Man, and the other was reserved for this auction. The Iron Man Comiquette will never be offered for sale with the red/gold color scheme and working lights - this is your opportunity to own a true holy grail.

IT WILL BE THE SAME STATUE BUT WITH NEW PAINT AND LIGHTS

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot how some people believe being an actor is such hard and courageous work. May we all shower them with gold for being the reason America lives on. Go watch some more E!:rotfl

I think it's just a poorly worded paragraph that you guys are reading way too deeply into.

I can bet almost anything we won't see the same Iron Man as before. :)

In my opinion it is saying..."We got excited about the movie and wanted to do something special. Originally we planned on not only including the lights but also a new paint scheme but we got lazy and fell behind so we half-assed it and just added lights. We only intended on doing a small run for important people and events":D

what part am I misreading?

The working lights were developed before the new paint was ready, and two pieces were produced with the traditional red/gold armor.

but more will be publicly available in a different paint colour when ready

The Iron Man Comiquette will never be offered for sale with the red/gold color scheme and working lights

I always said that there would be another IM piece. Either on PF or comiquette form. I guess I was right.

Paying ridiculous prices on ebay for the current one was nuts. It's a cool piece but not a definitive version of IM.

IMO....this won't be mis-worded, it will be very carefully worded & checked several times before starting auction as the piece will fetch a high price & buyer needs to know EXACTLY what their buying without come back when the other statue is released

true but I don't know how authentic a different coloured Granov design armour would be, has it ever appeared in any comic other than red/gold?

For Sideshow to revisit the same exact piece and change minor things is weak and that is why I don't think that they will do it. If we get a new Iron Man statue it will be movie based and it will have a completely different pose as well as look. I am willing to bet this is the case. This is what they have done before and what they will probably continue to do for a long time to come.

It seems strange that they would redo it in the same pose, has that happened before with the exception of the "classic" and "Negative Zone" Spider-Mans? And I agree this piece is going to fetch a mint, it will be interesting to see how high it finally goes.

Apparently you aren't aware of how much this weak piece is selling for right now and you hold Sideshow on a pedestal of sworn originality that isn't there.
