Re: After seeing "The Avengers" again on Blu Ray/DVD, who is your favourite Avenger?

The point was to show that he's the most human character of them. Not a spy or assassin, not a scientist with some mental problems or rich ****** in exo-suit, not even a god from another planet. He's just a good guy on the duty who lost everything but still wants to protect the innocent. He will stand until the end no matter what and thereby inspire others.

Besides I like the fact that he was shown from the other side - despite the patriotic feel he's always looking for justice.

:exactly:

The way I see it his shortcomings when compared to Hulk and Thor, and even Iron Man, made him even more heroic.

From the very beginning of the film, it's established that Loki's just a pawn, not "the most prominent villain." :dunno

I realise that but he was the villainous figure that we see throughout the film while the Chitauri are just grunts. And this Thanos doesn't show up till, what, after the end credits have started. This is why I called Loki the 'most prominent'.

If you know the story of Loki though, you know he's destined to fail. Being the "god" of mischief, he's great at creating chaos and mayhem, but in the end, will always be defeated. That was sorta already established in Thor. :huh

Re: After seeing "The Avengers" again on Blu Ray/DVD, who is your favourite Avenger?

I've only seen Thor once. But even the above being the case I don't think its a good idea to have the foremost antagonist of the film getting the crap beaten out of him by each hero. Thus my implying that I thought Cpt. America did as well as he should have against Loki. He got some digs in but you can see he might have been beaten had Iron Man not joined the fray and had Loki not decided to hand himself over at that point to carry out his plan.

I agree with a-dev cuz I didn't get enough "mischief" and "cunning" from Loki in the second part of the movie.

Captain America is an A Lister in Marvel Comics. He isn't really human anymore. Less so than Black Widow and Hawkeye.

:lol but still it's a weakness of the script.
If Loki was developed better and got more moments the scene with Hulk would work more appropriately.

Maybe but I don't think the film needed that 'big' over the top villain. I didn't see the film as The Avengers vs Loki; I saw it as the coming together of the team, Loki was simply a cog that helped bring all the parts together. There's plenty of time in future Avengers films for greater villain character development.

Hulk. Though yes, Hulk's actual scenes were fantastic, I really felt Mark Ruffalo's caliber of acting really elevated Bruce Banner in the Avengers.

Given Thor's statement in Thor about humans deifying what they don't understand, I'd say the scene with Hulk was wholly appropriate and developed perfectly. Though they refer to Asgardians as gods (Loki even refers to himself as such), per Thor's own admission, they are not.

I was relieved when I learned that, for some reason the whole notion of gods mixed in with earthbound superheroes seemed absurd to me. It would seem to make the superheroes...erm..superfluous.

That was the part I was worried most about with Thor and am soooooo glad they handled it the way they did. :lol

Yeah, I was worried about that too! Luckily for us moviegoers, they grounded it in reality just enough so that the whole idea didn't seem ridiculous. :)

Re: After seeing "The Avengers" again on Blu Ray/DVD, who is your favourite Avenger?

I was a little disappointed that the Avengers score didn't make any referance to the Thor music. There would have been some good opportunities. Having said that I don't remember the music from Captain America TFA or any orchestral scoring from the Iron Man films so I guess unless you're going to referance them all it would be odd to referance just one of them. The Thor music was actually alright though.

Re: After seeing "The Avengers" again on Blu Ray/DVD, who is your favourite Avenger?

Alan Silvestri > Patrick Doyle

THOR's score was pretty weak even tho it has its moments.
Both CA and TA scores were epic and oldschool. Just perfect.
