Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Are people normally so harsh on new TV shows as this? We're only coming up to the 3rd episode for crissakes.

Total surprise with Franklin Hall/Graviton. Pretty cool how they set that up IMO

I think one of the reasons is because the series is set in the marvel movie universe so expectations were simply too high - some people may have expected major marvel characters out of the gate, and/or that it would play more like the films. I didn't expect those things, only an enjoyable television show that ties nicely into the movie series starring Coulson (who I love) - and that's what I've gotten so far.

I think it's far too early to judge characters and storylines.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Years ago they didn't have as many screens showing the same movie.

Just a small example. When I was a kid, we had a movie theater in town that showed one movie a week. Now we have none, but the two towns closest to me went from having 3 and 4 screens to 10 and 12. There are usually 2 or 3 movies that are being shown on multiple screens.

The last movie I saw and the line was over a block when I arrived was TPM opening night. It was at a 10 plex and showing on about half the screens. So I guess that of all movies was my last blockbuster. :lol

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I think the reason why people are harsh on this show is simply because it has so much potential, and it hasn't lived up to it yet.

The first 2 or 3 episodes should pretty much set the tone of the show from then on....and from there it should evolve. So who knows. Like The Walking Dead, it hopefully can live up to it's potential.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Another solid episode. I know nothing of the guy who became a villa at the end but he should be cool to see later.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Wow, a show that is being applauded from the off. I never expected anyone to be able to point to one :dunno

I'm sure for every show that starts off brilliantly (and probably fails to maintain that quality) there's a show that started off not quite so well but came good later on.

So, are you saying that this show is off to a weak start? But people shouldn't comment on it because its too "harsh"? :slap

I don't see your point unless its just to be a human waffle and throw generalities out about people being hard on new shows which isn't true if the show is well done.

It would be pretty damn stupid for a show to blow it's wad in the first few episodes. That's like expecting Hannibal to have been arrested as the Minnesota Shrike by episode 2 with zero build-up and a lackluster future. I swear, some of you need to take your Dexedrine before sitting down to watch. :lol

Of course people should comment on it, but I'm getting the impression people are so impatient that they're going to stop watching before episode 5. This is why genre shows get cancelled and ****in' reality TV thrives.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Has nothing to do with "blowing it's wad".

The show is just overly cheesy and stupid.

Like The Aven -- nvm.

Asking for a show to live up to its potential is blowing its wad? maybe you should stare at your reading is fundamental gif a bit more. :lol
You act like he said Coulson should have transmogrified into the Vision by now. :cuckoo:

Most of the detractors are having issues with the very poor dialogue and characters and alot of people seem to have issues because they expected it to be more characteristic of Whedon's past work. Some people have commented about the poor effects, how does any of this translate into impatience?
Do you ask your buddy if he wants Chinese and when he replies, "Can't stand it"... you call him impatient?

Again...do you think these episodes are of the writing calibre they should be? Do you really think the production values are measuring up to other shows currently on?

Well you had me until you started your blasphemy. :thwak

My personal thoughts stay the same...this show is not clicking with me, I can't "get" into any of the characters. I like Gregg, but even he seems canned on this. Its just not translating well to me.

I gatta admit, I actually liked this 3rd episode. Wayyy better than the first two.

I also like how they added a few twists.

Getting better, getting better...
