they just made the series too cheesy with the teenager dialogs and action. Agent Melinda May and coulson were the only 2 characters that fit, the rest of the team might as well be from an ep of glee...Some humor is good but the episode itself still needs to be believable and somewhat serious. Heroes for example was a good series that got the balance right.

The marvel setting and references to the avenger are the only thing that still keeps me watching, if this was just a noname new series no one would bothered because stripping away the marvel setting it is pretty horrible.

It would be pretty damn stupid for a show to blow it's wad in the first few episodes. That's like expecting Hannibal to have been arrested as the Minnesota Shrike by episode 2 with zero build-up and a lackluster future. I swear, some of you need to take your Dexedrine before sitting down to watch.

Blowing your wad, and setting the tone are very different things. The first few episodes of Breaking Bad were fantastic, and set the tone of the show.

Most of the detractors are having issues with the very poor dialogue and characters and alot of people seem to have issues because they expected it to be more characteristic of Whedon's past work. Some people have commented about the poor effects, how does any of this translate into impatience?
Do you ask your buddy if he wants Chinese and when he replies, "Can't stand it"... you call him impatient?

Again...do you think these episodes are of the writing calibre they should be? Do you really think the production values are measuring up to other shows currently on?

What I said wasn't in response to the particular criticisms of the show but to remarks like ''interest is fading'' and ''I'll give it one more episode'' - that does strike me as being impatient for an infant show to reach its full potential.

How long should I give it? 5 episodes? 10? A full season? If you're eating a meal that you don't care for, do you continue to eat it in hopes that it will get better?

Just did a brief scan of that thread. I saw you and Deckard arguing, didn't find any exchange between me and you. Although if you like STiD then chances are we would have disagreed at some point because I....do not like that film.

Kidding. I liked (and own) The Avengers.

But this show looks pretty meh. It's a really cool idea to make a TV series out of the film franchise but putting it on ABC and having this ridiculously cheesy, "family fun time" type of atmosphere ruins it.

They need to get better cameras, and an actual cinematographer. Make this show stand out. Make it pretty much the TV equivalent to the Marvel films.

This episode wasn't bad. But the cheapness of it all really hurts it. It just doesn't feel like a Marvel produced TV show.
