Coulson is an incredible character, and I hope May gets a role in Avengers 2.
After seeing Thor 2 and coming home to watch this show, i'm in Marvel hog heaven tonight!

There really isn't anything "Marvel" about it, thus far. They've had their little "winks and nods," and the Fury cameo, and the Thor tie-in coming up, but, outside of those things, which are all very surface level, and almost like pure fan service to keep people tuned in, Coulson might as well be a guy named Bob Robertson leading a team for H.A.M.M.E.R, and it would be the same show.

Point is: why not have Shield actually being Shield. If it was all about cleaning **** up, they could've called the show Damage Control. I want espionage; Hydra, AIM, etc.; not "gadget of the week" that we have to find.

And? The point is, SHIELD runs around doing the grunt work while the heroes take on the main battles. That's essentially what this show is, but it has the neat little add-ins like Fury, Extremis, Chitauri tech and this last episode with Chitauri cooties. Grunts doing grunt work.

It may get to that, eventually. ATM, and realistically, they're still dealing with the fallout and clean-up from NY.

I don't know. I like it, but it's just not that "attention grabbing," if you will. Perhaps the movies have spoiled me, but it seems kind of "fluffy," at times, as I said in the Netflix/Marvel thread. I guess it's just that everything's so cohesive in the Marvel world that we're used to seeing in the films, and how it all has some sort of an impact, that this show seems almost like a cash-in on the hype, and less like anything important is happening.

I disagree because you're missing the whole point of the show.
COULSON!
He became an instant hit with the fans.
This show is everything about Coulson being a LMD or not, totaly tied 100% to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will lead right into Avengers 2.

Coulson's resurrection is being teased in each episode, clearly there's a plan. Hopefully it's Vision.
If Coulson becomes Vision the people who have been pessimistic and sitting out will be catching up and b itching about spoilers in the thread.

I agree bcuz Coulson. Seriously, though, that's a heavy burden for Gregg. I love Coulson, as well, but it's pretty bad when he's literally carrying the show (along with Chloe Bennett's hotness).

Then they should have just called it the Coulson show. I am sure if/when theres a reveal of him as the Vision the show is going to spike, but otherwise its just a show whos ratings have went down with every episode.

people forget that the budget for a TV series is way lower than for the big screen. no comparison actually. i think the series started slow but it's gaining steam with each of the last few episodes better then the previous. you have to realize that shield can handle most things the world, aliens and weapons developers throw at them. but when they can't manage, then the avengers step in. i wonder if we'll see a cameo by the end of season one other than fury.

Maybe Ruffalo. I'm not sure they'd want to waste a $$$ contractual appearance to push an already popular TV show.
