Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

As a lifelong Marvel guy, I've been enjoying Arrow as well.

And I have to say that I overall liked Smallville in the beginning and I admired the no flights no tights rule. I thought it was a great premise and loved all the characters (except for Lana). I started losing interest when they went too far with the whole caves myth (and something with Lana getting superpowers? I don't quite remember) and when they were trying to turn it into Superman by introducing Lois (as hot as Erica Durance is) and especially the whole Martian Manhunter and Justice League stuff. It definitely had its share of problems, but I thought the show worked best and brilliantly with the Clark/Lex friendship. And I LOVED Chloe! :love

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I enjoyed tonight's episode.

Having Ward and Fitz team up made for a fun pairing, with both of them proving their worth. I enjoyed their interaction a lot. I'm warming to Ward a lot, especially when he's not interacting with Sky.

Sky and Simmons was a pretty fun team-up, though. But mostly because Simmons was hilarious as she did a horrible job trying to be a secret agent.

The crack about "he's acting like a robot version of himself" (paraphrasing) line was a pretty fun wink at the audience. :)

I enjoyed it too.

Honestly, I don't want Coulson to be a "robot".

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

Tonight was the best episode yet imo; more espionage/spy vibe with less of the X-files crap. They also mixed the comedy in well with the action, this felt like it had the marvel vibe to it, really hope they keep up this style going into the next couple episodes.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I think the best comedy has come from the girls so far. I didn't mind tonight's episode - the little Skye / Simmons mini mission was entertaining. :lol Simmons has that Winona meets Keira vibe - such a cutie. :) May's still my fave at the moment.

The scale of the combat sequences has been increasingly impressive I must say. The 'cavalry' showing up looked great. All that said - I'm still warming to this show, but the characters are growing on me.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

This show is definitely picking up steam. Nice to see. Has me more enthusiastic for the follow-up episodes, were before I didn't have that feeling some episodes back.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

It's driving me nuts, but I love how they are stringing us along with Coulson. Loved the ending where he wasn't allowed to access his file.

Comedic timing in this episode was good. I laughed out loud at several scenes, especially Fitz watching Ward beat up the two guards without a clue what was going on.

Such simple plot lines every week, yet so entertaining to watch. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

I'll have to give Arrow another shot at some point then. I wrote it off as a Smallville knockoff, which also started out pretty good but went to **** fast. :lol

Arrow is most definitely NOT Smallville. Real good show. S1 had it's ups and downs, but I enjoyed it overall. S2 has been spectacular. Give it another shot. I think you will be glad you did. :exactly:

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series!

It seemed like they tapped into their similarities to Men In Black this week and it lead to the most genuinely hilarious episode yet. It helps that last week's finally made the whole squad likeable, now everything has really clicked. The comedic timing hit the mark perfectly and I love that they were able to make it work without abandoning the heavier aspects of the plot. Who said suicide missions can't be full of laughs? It showed that this show doesn't need epic superpowers on display each week to be enjoyable, just good writing and execution. The casual and comedically clever use of never-before seen high-tech gadgets falls under the Men In Black banner, but I have to specifically give them a shout out. That's one area where this show stands out from the crowd and this week's were the best yet.

But yeah, it's starting to close the gap but Arrow is still on a whole other level of awesome.

Most TV sucks. Only show I am looking forward to or have faith in to be good is Orange is the New Black.

The Walking Dead... sucks.

True Blood... meh

Breaking Bad... done boo

Futurama... See Breaking Bad.

This show, it's okay, but hasn't blown my lid like OitNB.

:exactly: Because MIB was doing spys, secret suicide missions and gadgets long before Bond. :nana:

I liked that Victoria Hand was introduced, and next week looks like they're tying it into Thor: The Dark World (if even just a little) which is what I'd hope they do with this show (and the Marvel movies) as they create a much larger universe.

Watch Eastbound and Down. It's the best cringe comedy/drama around.

Inevitably, somebody's going to whine about them cleaning up the Dark Elf staff. :lol
