Yeah, I read about that as well, but I'm doubting it will really have a big impact on the look of the figures.
And those NL are not exactly cheap...

Anyway, does anybody have more pics of the SST brownie exclusive they'd like to share?

OH crap! Just found out that Newline Miniatures has made Vietnam jungle style cloth boots. The same kind the Marines wore in Aliens! Looks like I'm going to have to start saving to replace all those crappy Hot Toys boots.
:banana

Thing is, the HT Marines have no feet.

So you'd have to buy feet, if you can find them, or fill your nice new NL boots with putty or clay or something and rip the peg out from the old HT boots.

Don't do it. That's what broke my Ripley foot peg. As for Hot Toys feet, good luck. I've looked everywhere and the only way you are going to get some is to buy a loose body that has them.

The new ones right? How could HT be that incredibly stupid. But the new boot feet might actually work better then the boots on the originals. I have Hicks and Apone in black DML cloth boots and the grieves fit far better, so they do have some visual impact. I might have to just buy some additional HT bodies and switch everything over from Hudson and Frost when I eventually buy them.

I looked everywhere and Echo Base Toys is the only place that has the A-2 jacket, buy them now while you still can!

The feet are inserted in the boots. I know, I've taken the boots off.

Yeah, but aren't the feet "glued" in or something? I thought I read here that you couldn't remove the feet from the boots?

If that's not true then... excellent.

So you guys are sure that the Series 2 figures have no feet?
Because Series 1 Hicks and Apone definitely have feet.

I have no idea about series 2... I was talking about series 1. But I stand corrected apparently. That's good to know. I would assume series 2 uses the same arrangement.

Has anyone actually tried the NewLine boots on the marines? With the shin guards covering half the boot, does it really make that much improvement?

No no, they're not glued at all, they're just very hard to get out of the boots.
You have to open up the laces as much as you can and carefully wiggle the feet out. A bit of hot water would certainly help.

I'm pretty sure they have feet. My Ripley definitely has feet. After the peg broke trying to get the boot on it took me about 5 minutes to pull her foot out of the boot with a pair of needlenose pliers.

So I'm obsessing about how I'm going to ultimately "dress" Ripley vs. the PL Ripley...

The 3 major options seem to be:

1. Ripley in full dress with flight jacket
2. Ripley in PL WITH the grenade harness
3. Ripley as she appeared in the elevator getting ready for battle

How are you guys planning to dress your 2 Ripleys?

Yeah they're a b-itch to get off. The opening of the tongue is cut out of the boot cast so it makes the boot's edges very sharp.
The first Colonial Marines definitely have feet.

You'd see a little of the green cloth from the sides in between the gap of the grieves. They allow the ankles to actually be posed so you can do more natural poseing; and they improve the fit of the grieves around the shins.

Which NewLine boots do you recommend?

Posted my HT Ripley and Newt in my Customs thread, but here's the FAMILY shot, not covered there.

Been repainting Ripley since I got her Monday. She was tough. Has a mouth and face structure a bit like a Gelfling from THe Dark Crystal...but is almost there...
