Congrats RP!! LOOOOVE that Wolf Predator piece. That was way out of my price range, and the shipping to Canada would've doubled it. Beautiful piece though...great centerpiece to a collection!

:hi5:

What you going to do?
What if you get a Reg and it has issues?

Think I will just keep it and take the $50, it doesn't seem as bad as some on here and I've already got it booked in to get the teeth chromed and the little bits put right.

Re: Alien Legendary Scale Bust

I sent in my issue with the separation of the dome, glop on the teeth and small chip it the head. We'll see what they say.

Okay, I left this a few days before posting because I wanted to give a balanced opinion rather than one of disappointment which was my initial reaction due to damage. I have finally looked him over and taken a few pictures. It's no secret I've been extremely excited for this guy so I'd like to concentrate on the good stuff first.

I love LSB's, they are for me the perfect balance of size and detail while being easy enough to display well, this is a very nice example of that. It is larger than the Warrior and when you take all dimensions into account, it is larger than the Predator also by some margin. The Warrior was surprisingly light which some people didn't like, well they will be happy here because this guy is much heavier. The organic look of these Alien LSB's is excellent, and Sideshows design team and sculptors/painters should be commended on the design of them. It is indeed a large and impressive piece. Alien fans will love this!!

And then there is unfortunately a the not so good bits. Nothing to do with the design element or Sideshows implementation, all of which is excellent if you take these as the artistic representation they are. The bad parts is simply down to the factory production which seems rushed. The first sight I was greeted with was a small piece of plastic loose in the box, I knew straight away this was part of a tendon as it seems a high percentage of these have arrived broken. Sure enough the tendon on the right side is snapped off, the biggest annoyance here is that most of it isn't in the box so I can't glue it back on. It has clearly been broken in the factory and then broken further in transit given its weakened form. The next thing I was as I pulled out the EX plaque is a huge paint chip. Not a great start but that is fixable so not the end of the world.

The Paint, Anthony Mestas and Casey love created a bit of a masterpiece that I doubt any of us expect to be matched in reality. I set my hopes around that of the Warrior which damage aside (of which mine has a lot) It has several subtle layers and really does look nice for it. This guy doesn't quite have the same kind of detail, it is black with a kind of grey dry brush effect all over and some lines on the shoulders. The bronze tones and highlights of the prototype are missing. It isn't terrible by any means, but the Warriors is quite a bit nicer. Mine also has several chips and rough areas where the paint hasn't been finished properly, not as bad as my Warrior in that regard though. And everybody knows about the teeth, they are just bad.

The biggest problem on mine is the dome. I said early on that my biggest worry was the dome area as once sealed it can't really be fixed. Sure enough there is a whole host of problems on mine. First of all there is a huge black line on his skull, looks like some spilled paint or something. There is a huge amount of air bubbles in the plastic of the dome. But most of all there is countless scratches on it, including a few massive ones, all of which are underneath the dome so there there is no way of getting rid of them. Mine also isn't sealed properly like many, so it is already full of junk like polystyrene and bits of dust etc that cling to this thing like you wouldn't believe. I really wish this could have been designed so that the dome simply sat on top of the head loose, but it wasn't. I'd love to remove it but I fear I'll crack it while trying to do so.

So over all? Well it's a great piece, damage aside, I am happy with it. Alien fans, and anybody who appreciates a good bit of creature design will love it. The problems are the same as with the Warrior in that there is no care taken putting various pieces together or when handling them for packaging etc it seems. They are just rushed and that needs to change. Get a good one and you'll be nothing but pleased though.

The Engineer and his creations..

Now I just want to actually see a Big Chap with his head modified as a snow globe.

So am I to take it, Python, that you feel like you'll only be able to display this piece happily with his left side showing in the same way that with me it's only the right?

Python - Great pics! Sorry to hear about the flaws and all, although if he is a keeper for you, there should not be a problem with the right side tendons, as it looks like he is designed to be displayed with his left side facing the front. That's the way I'm displaying mine as well, and although mine has all tendons intact, doubt I will ever see them :)
All in all, it looks great with Warrior and Engineer - Congrats!

Lol you noticed all of my pictures were left side on then. I'm hoping SSC will send me a new tendon, I'll probably keep it if they do although I'm really eagre to get into that dome and clean it up because it is a mess! The tendon isn't the end of the world, I could display this right side on and it wouldn't be too noticeable really. I have contacted them but we already know there are no replacements. It is just the dome on mine, I got off lightly compared to the guy that had a smashed shoulder.

Thanks man, I have him almost face on at the moment with the Engineer flanking him and the warrior. I have to say when you stand way back, he looks awesome. It is just so disheartening when you have waited so long and received a roughed up piece as we all know. I'll probably keep it but I'd love somebody who is smashing one up to try and remove the dome to see if it is achievable or if it just cracks. paint is basic but over all it's a really great piece, I hope my write up didn't come off as too negative as that wasn't my intention. Alien fans will love this as long as it isn't too damaged.

WHile there were no pics, a member on the other forum mentioned they had to smash their piece and that the skill was one large piece of pvc.

It isn't the production piece but this might help give people an idea, this is a still from the teaser video which shows the skull revealed.

When they give me the go ahead to smash mine I'll post pics if people want them.

As I posted I got an email.
No replacements and offered $65 to keep the P.O.S!
Absolute disgrace!

The fact that the factory scuffed the dome, no way that was done in transit, and deemed it fit to pack is laughable.
Now I miss out on an item I've been waiting a year for!
THANK YOU SIDESHOW!

Sorry to see all the problems you guys are having. I had this on order but canceled it awhile back. Looks like I dodged a bullet.

I remember the days Sideshow offered replacements. :(

Seriously? You can't replace him?

The dome issues must be how it left the factory which imo is very poor form.
The tendon and pipe damage could be from the factory or transit.

I'm shocked you can't offer a replacement! I do understand lots of these had issues though.
Did you replace any or is offering a credit Sideshows new policy?

There's no way I'm keeping this in it's condition, it's in no fit shape to be displayed.

Can you guarantee the Reg would be any better? The dome is the focal point and for the factory to deem the scuff on mine to be satisfactory is a disgrace at any pricepoint never mind $400.

Thank you.

I'd don't understand why they can't send you a regular version which is still in stock? I may be in the same boat as you as the exclusive I received yesterday had tendons that were all broken up on one side. I submitted my request for a replacement but fear I'm going to get the same response as you. Why can't they have you return/refund your P.O.S. and give you $65 off a regular? All I know is, I don't care what they offer me, if it's broken it's worthless to me and they better find a way to make their customers happy. It's not our fault that their quality control is a joke:mad:

Yeah $65 off a Reg. I ordered direct because I wanted the Ex.
Could get the Reg locally for less anyway.
The only way they'll shift the Regs I suppose.

I thought they would have unnumbered pieces and add the number of the destroyed piece.

The Edition Size of the Ex will also be vastly reduced with all these issues.
