Alien 3 was IMHO not that great. I really hated the way they just killed of Hicks and Newt. It was a big '^^^^ you' to all the fans.

Alien Resurrection brought back some of the feelling of Aliens, and Ron Pearlman was excellent.

if hicks and newt would of been there it wouldn't of been as good I don't think.
The point of this movie was to finish the series. Not another action movie where hicks saves the day. Newt and Hicks died to show Ripley her life had basically gone to ^^^^ , she got fed up with it all and just ended up killing herself knowing it was the only escape. The movie alone isn't amazing but watching them all together is exceptional.

I know that it would have probably ended up being Aliens all over again if Hicks and Newt survived, but I just felt robbed.
I love all things Alien, (my first tattoo when I was seventeen was an Alien head on my arm), but Alien 3 was the weakest of the four films.

Ressurection is my Christmas Eve movie. I have watched in every year since It was released on video then DVD. I don't know why it reminds me of CHristmas, or why I started watching it then, but I do:duh

I think it works pretty well as a stand alone movie. You don't have to have seen the others to get the story. My wife watched it and she loved it. She'd never seen any of the others but she 'got' Ripleys character, and what the Aliens were all about.

Too bad Hillard got killed, I would have been happy to watch her ass for two hours!:monkey5:monkey5

Alien 3 is possibly the most interesting of the series . Note I say most INTERESTING , not BEST , before all you "hard-core" Alien fans have a stroke ! ( Just joking , before you ...er..have a stroke ). Alien Ressurection stinks because it tries to be all things to all men , the action/adventure of ALIENS , the horror of ALIEN , the distance/change of direction of ALIEN3 , but it fails on every count ! The director obviously has no connection with the subject matter , the actors for the most part , seem to think they are in a comedy ( and don't get me wrong , I LOVE Ron Perlman as much as the next man ) and the action sequences just don't work . As for setting it hundreds of years after ALIEN 3 , what's the point? The technology , weapons , ships etc . are no more advanced than in ALIENS! And don't get me started on the "Newborn" ! Ressurection has solid production design , good effects and a GREAT cast ,but squanders all these factors .ALIEN 3 may indeed be flawed ( virtually making the screenplay up as they went along didn't help , obviously ), but it is a perfect example of a film working DESPITE the studios interferance , rather than Alien Ressurection's failure DUE to the studio doing the same .

:lol

A:R was a great action flick. If a movie is enjoyable, that's all that matters to me. Alien and Aliens are my favorites of the series, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy something that goes in a different direction.

I'm also one of the very few that actually likes the newborn, so I know my opinion doesn't carry very far here anyway. :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

the newborn was great. no worse than the Predalien.

When the Newborn sniffs Ripley and his nose twitches. My wife goes 'ah isn't he cute'.
women huh?

one thing the bugged me (excuse the pun) was how did Perez know when the escape pod was out of the ship before blowing it up? He's not stood near a window or anything?

The only reason I re-watch A:R is to try and find a redeeming quality in it and to force myself to like it. After 11 yrs it's still the same heartbreaking turd of disapointment I witnessed in the theater.
