Man. I just caught the last half of AVP on tv. Never got to see it before.

Man. It sucks so bad :(

Clarification: I saw the first 20 mins or so in the theater while waiting to see another movie. I had a bad feeling, but wanted to reserve my opinion til I saw the whole movie.

Maybe the middle part I missed is good? I hope?

The action was decent, but the whole "relationship" between the Scar Alien and the female character was so cheezy. It could have worked if handled better, but it was laughable.

You guys obviously never read the original Dark Horse comic series by by Randy Stradley, Chris Warner and Mark Verheiden. That was taken directly from the comic between the female Asian lead Machiko and the lead Predator named Broken Tusk. I thought it was very much like the comic and I enjoyed it very much.

Hey, Dave. I actually have that series and I'm aware of that storyline. I just thought the way they unfolded it in the movie was cheezy. It happened way too fast or rushed - so it wasn't believable.

Maybe I'll rent it and watch from beginning to end to see if it changes my opinion any.

Also - I saw it on FX - and it was likely censored greatly.

BTW: I have all of the DH Alien comics. I liked the original DH series the best.

I saw it once, and that was enough for me. I didn't hate it, but I thought it was pretty forgettable.

That original Dark Horse series was awesome. They just got really stupid after that with series like Aliens vs. Predator vs. Terminator vs. Robocop vs. Batman vs. Superman vs. Magnus Robot Fighter vs. Judge Dredd... and so on and so on.

And the cover art for all the DH Aliens series were awesome, too. So different from what was out during that time.

Man. I should look through them. Haven't taken them out of the box in years. hehe

Dave Dorman's covers ruled. I have a signed and numbered litho of one of those covers. His covers for Star Wars Dark Empire and Indiana Jones were just as awesome too.

Yeah, it's overall a pretty bad movie. What I want in an Alien Vs. Predator movie is 90 minutes of unadulterated, dialogue free violence between the two species. :rock2 The money they would save by not having to pay for actors and endless script re-writes could go into special effects.

Alien vs Predator was a complete disaster of a movie. It was a disgrace to both franchises. I still try to watch it and hope that it will be better the next time I see, but every time I watch it I get even more upset with the fact that it was so crappy and could have been so good.

I mean come on!! They took 2 franchises that have had an "R" rating for every movie in their respectful series and put them together to make a PG-13 movie. How stupid and lame is that. It makes no sense at all.

That's the name I was trying to remember: Dave Dorman.

You probably have the alternate cover version of one of the AVP comics paint by him. It had a Predator and Machiko standing back to back surrounded by aliens. Classic cover.

And I remember the Dark Empire cover he did with Jedi Luke. Nice!

There's an uncut version on DVD you know.

Love that cover. The litho I have is the Pred standing in the swamp with her fighting off hordes of Aliens. Good stuff.

yeah, but the only difference between the regular and uncut versions is that they added in the alternit intro - which was also included on the original disc but was only accesesable from the special features menu.

man my spelling is bad

And Scar's dissection of the Alien warrior is longer and more graphic which would have merited an R rating.

I think they should have made a movie featuring that original Dark Horse Alien series - with an adult Newt.

Dang. Right when I typed that - I realized they killed off Newt and Hicks in the third movie. Which I hated.

LOVED Alien 3. I thought it was the perfect conclusion to the trilogy. Ripley's luck had finally run out. Hicks and Newt killed. S*** happens. Everybody just wanted Aliens 2. I'm glad they went the opposite direction. Fincher's masterpiece.
