Maybe SSC decided to add all those extra elements because the Newborn by himself wasn't quite as elaborate as an Alien Warrior. Good choice they made, too. Makes the piece more appealing and gives it extra color. Come to think of it, a lot of their Resurrection merchandise is quite eye-catching, compared to the other films. You've got the red Warrior as well, plus that gorgeous faux-bronze concept maquette (which I've actually been wanting to buy for some time, heh). True, the movie wasn't anything mind-blowingly special, but the collectibles are more hits than misses from an artistic standpoint.

I have few guestions about Predator 2
1.Why Lost Predators had to go away from earth in ending?
2.Why Lost Predators didnt care that Harrigan killed Predator in their ship?

1. Their time there was done I'm guessing;
2. Being a good sport. Harrigan was able to kill the Predator so he was worthy of living.

Having just watched A:R, I was wondering what everyone's opinion of the Newborn was? What was your initial reaction and has that changed over the years?

Freaky then, still freaky now. That was probably the idea. Although I just don't like it and think the film is awful so....its not part of my personal Alien canon (just 1-3 for me).

Having not seen the film for years, I found it still freaky too, especially the cry it lets out as it's being sucked through the vacuum. The film as a whole has a weird, uneasy feel to it.

Yup... loved the feel of the movie, just didn't really seem to care for the Newborn. I saw what they're trying to do with the uneasy weirdness and all that, but that was just too much.

1.) They go home once the hunt is over. I get the impression from the films that they can't survive long in earths atmosphere. That's part of the reason they wear bio masks that supply them with an unknown breathing gas.

2.) Harrigan survived because it's part of their weird honor code not to kill people that have beaten a Predator in a fair fight.

Their honor code is wierd. No kids or pregnant women all well and good. However both the P1 and the P2 are dishonorable in defeat - they both try to set off their wrist bombs when they are beaten or think they are beaten. Theres no way the P1 knew Dutch would escape. And the P2 was even holding Harrigan by the arm to make sure he'd die too. Thats just spite.

However I guess the other clan members at the end of P2 were obliged to accept the outcome of the hunt and probably had a non-interferance policy or something.

This is what I've always believed too. P2 died on his own hunt, Harrigan deserved to live. The pistol given by the Elder was a gift of respect.

I love what the Predator's call a fair fight with this honor code thing. I mean, they're 7 foot tall invisible aliens with hi-tech weaponry. Nothing about that is fair in my opinion. Plus, they're also all sore losers.

Most of them are simply collecting trophies, not looking for fair fights.

Gah, why'd you have to remind me? I enjoyed the film as a whole, thought it was a fun and interesting take on the Alien universe, but as I've said in the past, it loses points purely because it didn't have to be made. The Company doesn't even exist in that film; it was bought out by Wal-Mart, according to one of the scientists in the special edition version (which actually isn't hard to imagine, considering what a corporate dynamo it's become :D).

Indeed. None of the warrior honor stuff really came into play until the AVP films, though there were some hints of it in P1 and P2. Nothing too extreme, besides not engaging unarmed civilians and removing his plasma-caster pack for the fight with Dutch.

Awwwww... :(

A-dev? I'm starting to feel it now. Just saying.

It's their honor code - for lack of a better term - it's obviously not based on human notions of morality. I think the reason they self destruct when beaten is because they don't want their technology falling into the hands of lesser developed species.

The only exception to that was Lex being given the spear in AVP - that really didn't make sense to me. But maybe it's because they knew humans already had the spear tip from P2.

It really is up to the individual viewer to make up their mind. It's their mysterious nature and technology that makes them such attractive characters'.

None but some - make up your mind. Some isn't none. If they didn't have Predator honor, Predator 1 and 2 wouldn't have been much of a movie, because the Predators would have just sat back and used their technology to kill and collect trophies. :lol

A better way to put it would be that their code of honor extends to a certain degree. Maybe they think it can't get any more humane than stripping themselves of their long-range weapons and going toe-to-toe, even though they're still a foot taller and more armored than their opponent.
