It's nice to hear back from Chris at EVA Models about the sentry guns. If we needed one person out there to help us get the guns done....it would be Chris. He's one of the nicest, most generous people I've ever met! He's helped me out so much with his great USCM custom gear already! Thanks again Chris...you rock man! :D

Yeah, thought your name was missing there Reiny... updated. :D

I searched and searched for info on these Sentry guns, tech specs and all, NOTHING! I've got the Colonial Marines Tech Manual, and nothing on these in there. I guess since it wasn't in the primary release, they didn't go the extra mile to account for specs on them for that book.

I have seen them somewhere though. Some book or something. Somewhere. Tech drawings. I know it. Just not sure where. If it hits me, I will pass it on.

Anyway, curious to see how these come out. Should be very cool. :D

With all the other insane stuff included the USCM Tech Manual, it's kinda hard to believe they omitted something as freakin' cool as the Robot Sentry, isn't it? I thought for sure I'd seen a tech drawing in there some years ago, but when I checked, no dice. Les, if you think you remember seeing some tech drawings somewhere, dig deep, bro! Rack your brain, search your feelings, let the force flow... you get the idea! And if you need some help, we can send a couple of Imperial interrogation droids over there to give you a little "incentive"! Seriously, tho, we definitely need some tech drawings or even some photos of the actual props. There must be at least one of those suckers in some lucky bastid's collection somewhere!!?? Do you think your buddy Mr. Burns might be able to help us out there? If anybody'd know, he'd be a good bet!

If anybody has any ideas, please post 'em here so we can pool our resources. If we keep at it we're bound to come with something sooner or later!!!

Looks to me like the sentry guns were built on some television studio cameras.

Cool, I agree...

Okay Guys,
I heard from Angie and she's in! I will post her comments later but basically she prefers one point of contact in this deal so I guess that's me... so it looks like I will be running this. Yikes!

Angie said she's swamped and can probably start in a couple months... so that's good news... get back to you guys later today.

Ok Kids, as promised some comments from the amazing Angie Portman...

Chris at EVA had mentioned to me that you guys might be interested in a Sentry Gun kit. Certainly the more people interested the better as it will reduce the overall costs for everyone, so really the more the merrier.

I have to say that I have done "Forum" projects before and with those past experiences under my belt I prefer to only have only one point of contact since that makes lines of communication easier for both parties and it means that I can just treat it like any other commission job. So I guess the gist of this is that "yes" I am interested but I'd like to only work through you on it if you want to go ahead with this project, Ok?

...as you probably suspect Chris and I have been pushing this project back and forward between us for quite a long time now but other things have always gotten in the way. Over that time I have gathered quite a lot of reference on the guns and there ancillary pieces myself, however anything else that folks can come up with would be most welcome on this kind of project especially plans etc which would be extremely useful.

In my mind the break down for such a kit would be quite a few parts but the main units would be the M56 Sentry Gun head itself plus the tripod. The gun head would have to be capable of panning and tilting (posably at least) and the tripod would be capable of folding down. There is also the power and control unit and of course IMHO no self respecting Sentry Gun kit would be complete without a Gridcase computer.

Ok Paul, taking into account what I've said above and if you are still interested in moving forward LMK then the next step would be for me to send you what I call my commission blurb which basically l sets out my terms and conditions for project commissions then we can work out the cost of such a project ( I should warn you in advance this is a fairly big project and it won't be the cheapest either in time nor cost).

I also have to say that right now I'm pretty snowed under with other commissions work so it would be at least three months before I could actually make a start on it.

Hope all the above is of some help and I look forward to hearing from you again in the near future.

Best
Angie  )

So as we speak we have 47 units requested by my last count, so I will use 50 as the initial count. We have plenty of time so I will need to think about how best to move forward with this... but I promise it will be fair and reasonable for all...

I hope to have some projected costs for you all in the near future... and then we have to set down some rules to make this a successful endeavor...

Wow Paul. Looks like you got this under control.
And yeah, I cannot imagine how much work this is gonna be.
I would think they could make more than 50 and sell to lots more folks.
I hope it is a remotely reasonable price. At that number, perhaps so.

I am racking brain for my memory. I have contacted Bob Burns. Hope to hear back. He's under the weather right now, and may not return my email for a while, but I know he will. But, I am certain I have seen something. Just can't recall where. I have a lot of ALIENS stuff. Mags, books, etc., just not sure if I have what I recall, or just saw it somewhere.
Doing my best. As soon as I remember, if I do, I will post accordingly.

Great job though Paul. Hope this all works out. :rock

Thanks Les,
I'm hoping once we get this rolling Chris @ EVA may jump in to help bring the costs down as he can sell these directly from his site... but WE are the Colonists here, we are the Frontiersman for this Seminole project...

hey PJAM, this is a link to a thread I started on the Aliens Legacy Forum a few weeks back when I began research for my Sentry Gun Project. There are some pics in there which should be quite useful, taken of a surviving screen-used gun at various conventions etc. Some of them are rather poor quality because they are screen grabs of 15 year old VHS video but they still yield some good detail on the gun.

https://p220.ezboard.com/fthealienslegacyfrm2.showMessage?topicID=4163.topic

There is also some good reference to scale in there too. I dont know if its worth mentioning now but you can put me down for one extra gun making two in total :)

Oh and Angie sounds like a cool person to have working on this project. She seems very proffesional and also enthusiaistic and knowledgable on the subject.

Thanks to you also for getting this ball rolling.

Awesome, it would be even better if someone could post those pics on this thread and I'll pass them on to Angie...
