Not really modern, more of a realistic approach. As this thing looks more like an actual Camaro.

They weren't. Ace approached Hasbro and had talks, but apparently was told that Hasbro doesn't deal with infringers.
Funny, as 3rd party, correctly spoken, doesn't infringe on anything to begin with.
They had talks, but Hasbro chose Loyal Subjects therefore Ramen was skipped over. I don't see what need to be corrected there.
I Don't see how it wouldn't infringe on the license. That said, Ace wants to release another run on the Gullwing and the Great White is still available. It seems that Ace will concentrate on 1:12 scale vehicles from here on out, next big one should be that Technical I asked him about.

"Shown below via JayC is a look at the new M.A.S.K Figure Line from The Loyal Subjects. The first wave of M.A.S.K. releases will include the MDU, Condor, Thunderhawk, and High Tech Helicopter, and each one will be paired with their action figure pilot as well as unique enhancements and projectile features and feature retro style packaging. Jay was also told that no items should cost over a $100. Pre-orders open in July 1st at places like Big Bad Toystore with wider distribution coming in September 1st."

I was looking forward to the M.A.S.K. reveal but was hoping they would bring it up into the 1/12 scale. Since they are not, well...got to think about it now.

This is some good news, not that I need a new line to collect but Mask is one of the few toy lines from childhood I kept. Most are all battered and bruised from hours of keeping my imagination occupied as a kid though. Hope Thunderhawk goes up first, never did find that one as a kid.

I’m in. That’s nostalgia perfection right there. I had been tinkering with the idea of gathering some originals and restoring them as best I could since NIB M.A.S.K. is out of the question due to prices. Now I can gather most everything I had as a kid, with retro packing, with upgraded features and at the original scale to have room to display them and at a relatively affordable price.

And if Ramen continues with their scaled up, “realistic” versions then I’ll cherry pick the ones I want from them as well.

Weird scale. They remind me of the early Spinmaster DC 3.75" figures. The figures have no elbow articulation it seems. Doesn't matter really as they rarely did anything outside the vehicles anyways.

I like the vehicles. They look great

Was this line brought back or knocked off in the late 90s? I remember going to Florida with my family, on vacation, and blowing what little cash I had on figures very similar to this at Toys R Us. Smaller scaled and looking transforming vehicles w/characters and weapons. Didn't look quite as vintage as these though.

Edit: Nevermind. Answered my own question. It was a knock-off series called Vor-Tech. Still pretty dang cool.

This is significant for me. These are slight upgrades, but at the same scale and with more or less the same articulation (rotating shoulder joint is new, and the legs also seem to have a ball joint now) I'm not really feeling them. If they gave these guys O-ring Joe articulation I would probably pick up at least Brad Turner and the Condor.

Agreed. Limited articulation kills my interest. Like older McFarlane figures or the ReAction line from Super7. Every figure doesn't need to have Spider-Man levels of articulation but I'd still like to be able to put them in standard human poses.

100%! This is exactly what I was hoping for from the line. All in, I say :panic:

I think overall, looking at the comparison, it's a great upgrade for the figures.

We used to unscrew our Joe figures and mix/match body parts. lol

This is what happened to most of my childhood Joes as well. Between 88-90 or so, I was so dissatisfied with the new Joe offerings that I disassembled most of my original figures to make new characters. At some point, a family member found the bucket of spare parts and threw it out. Almost none of my original Joes survived childhood.

I had a few Mask sets as a kid, not as many as Joes but I enjoyed the transformation features more than Transformers and the toys were exceptionally well designed. I was just a bit disappointed by the scale back then, had they been the same scale as my Joes, I would've done anything to have them all.

100% the same here. As for MASK, I only had Thunderhawk as a kid. Once I got that and realized my Joes couldn't really use it, I did not have much interest in collecting the rest of the line. As an adult, I did pick up most of wave 1 & 2 MASK vehicles and am pretty happy with that, but I'm still watching to see where Loyal Subjects goes with this line. I'd definitely be in for single figures, but most of the vintage vehicles I have are still in good shape.

Although better articulation on the figures would be cool, I never bought MASK because of the figures. It was all about the vehicles with me. The little guys are merely accessories to them and as long as they can look good in the driver’s seat I’m fine with it.
This right here 100%. It was all about the cool transforming vehicles. As a kid I knew all the names of the vehicles but could hardly remember the names of the pilots or their mask's specific power. Not one time did I ever ask for one of these because I thought the pilot was cool.

I'm quite surprised by those in the thread that want 1/12. People must have massive mansions and/or bank accounts to get an entire line of these in that scale. Can't even imagine the size of Outlaw or Boulder Hill. Even Rhino and Switchblade would be problematic. 1/18 would probably make some of the larger vehicles unwieldy to play with as well.

If it's not in a scale that makes the vehicles the star and easy to play with then it's a no go for me. I love the Ramen Toy Thunderhawk and really hope they continue the line to some of the larger ones that I couldn't get as a kid.

As for these from The Loyal Subjects they just look like the originals with better paint and figures, warts and all. They were so faithful to the originals that Condor has the exact same seam line running down the middle of it; Switchblade has the same unsightly gaps in the wings, clunky transformation trigger, and visible screw holes. As a matter of fact, I'm not convinced that they are not the original molds even though there are some very very minor differences (mainly sharpening of details which could easily be done to the original molds). While there's definitely a market out there for vintage reissues I think they could have hit a broader market had they done something new with modern upgrades Color me unimpressed.
