I know NOTHING about Transformers , but have just watched the recent movie , having no expectations ( I rented the D.V.D for my Son to watch) and thouroughly enjoyed it ! Excellent stuff and I look forward to the sequel . Just thought I'd share . Carry on .

rock on man:rock these were the biggest craze ever when i was about 5 years old. me and my friends had dozens and dozens of these. i remember we used to always bring a new one to school that the others hadn't seen yet and we'd be all "wow, where'd you get that?" we'd trade with each other till the end of the day and so forth. or we'd bring all our combiners and link em up to form devastator or menasor. *sigh* good memories.

They've been trying to get away from the whole "gigantic robot turns into a tiny tape player (or gun)" thing for quite some time, so I don't really see them making him an MP3 player.

As you probably know, the first transformers were just Japanese transforming robot toys that had no story to with them (and they weren't called transformers, either). As I understand it, the American creators of the show were basically given a bunch of these existing toys and they had to make up personalities for each one and put them in some kind of coherent storyline. I think they did a great job, but that explains why several of the decepticons turn into normal-sized objects. The original makers of the toys didn't have to worry about consistency -- they were just making a cool robot that changed into a gun. But of course it doesn't really make that much sense, even in the original cartoon, and if you're starting over from scratch I think it's probably a better idea to go with something else.

For me the whole "realism" argument about the likes of Soundwave and Megatron no longer turning into much smaller objects is kinda stupid, especially when the subject matter is not exactly grounded in realism to begin with. TF's are a bunch of shape shifting robots from ANOTHER PLANET so who's to say they wouldn't possess the ability to shrink themselves down?

Also, BBTS now has the LEADER versions of Megatron and Bulkhead on preorder. They look friggin badass. :rock

AND

"Roll Out Command" Optimus Prime. This thing looks amazing (for the price, it better be):

what does bbts shipping cost? i was thinking of picking up some of the animated TFs from the hasbro site cuz they're cheaper and the combined shipping for several pieces is under $10.
