I'm wondering if it's the work of the other designer because it there's a couple of quirks that I don't think would have been present in a Shogo Hasui design.

The major thing for me is the proportions of the robot mode seem off, it's got a slightly bloated look like Magnus has been overdoing the Energon snacks.

That's a better picture for sure, but he looks kind of blocky for my taste. Which is weird as I never really thought that when we saw the protos.

Maybe it's the pose. They went for an action pose, but it just makes him look bulkier and less nimble somehow.

Botcon is this coming weekend so it's more likely to surface again there but given recent developments maybe not....and in all honesty I don't care if it's never seen again, I'm sick of the whole damn saga, particularly when the toy at the centre of it all is so mediocre.

I saw those sushi-formers the other day and they made me laugh. I'd probably end up trying to eat one if I came in drunk and saw them lying around

I don't really bother going to TFW anymore. The immaturity level over here is bad enough, but it goes to a whole different level over there in some places.

The Masterpiece Speculation thread is nice. It's the only thread I frequent regularly. I delve into the third party forum from time to time when I want some info on products I like, but man... people get really crazy there.

Ultra Magnus IS clunky, though. There's no getting around it. Personally, I think he looks great, but he was never going to be a sleek-looking bot...

Amazing what a bit of better posing can do!! This Ultra Magnus is looking better and better as more pics are shown!! I personally think it looks way better than Citizen Stack and is more accurate to the cartoon aesthetic, as you would expect for an official Takara version.

I used to think the legs were too chunky, but you look at them in proportion to the rest of his body, and it all looks perfectly chunky together! And I'm OK with that because he was mostly very chunky in the cartoon! I was a little worried about the head sculpt too, but these new shots and killed all doubt in my mind - I am going to LOVE this!!
