Re: All things transformers!!!!

Pretty cool!

No EVA MP-10?

Nah, I passed on the Bape and EVA repaints. I was never much of an Evangelion fan, so I thought WTF when they first showed the colour way! lol!! And the green Bape repaint too. BBTS and RK had both available for preorder at normal retail price, but the MP-10 and MP-10B were enough MP-10 molds for me.

I only got MP-12G cos the head sculpt and accessories were just too cool, and I thought he fitted in well more with the black repainted Decepticons than the Autobots!

In my MP collection, I try to keep the main characters in bot mode, so I rely on repaints to be able to display the mold in the alt mode too. So that's how I ended up getting MP-11S Sunstorm and MP-12T Tigertrack. The characters dont really mean anything to me, but they were the only option for me at the time to display the mold in those alt modes.

So I'll be getting the upcoming MP-23 Exhaust and MP-21G G2 BB to display in alt mode. I am really hoping Takara do a Powered Convoy repaint for Ultra Magnus (I mean, it would be a stupid decision not to right!?!)

It's been a while since I went through my Transformers Masterpiece collection, and Maz from the TFSource forum inspired me with his term "Masterpiece Moment" to get my collection together.

So here's my video on what my "Masterpiece Moments" are with each of the figure molds. Each one has at least one awesome feature that I love!

Hope you can check it out, subscribe, like, and comment with what your personal "Masterpiece Moments" are!

Personally, when MP01 was first announced, I really couldn't believe what my eyes were witnessing. Perfection of the highest degree. It seemed pricy at $100 back then, but man I had to have it. I remember missing work for MP01, and I never regretted that. It was my very first "high end" figure purchase ever.

Takara was reissuing some stuff at the time, but nothing compared to what MP01 brought to the table.

That was the best Masterpiece moment for me, really. And I'd assume that it was
the same to a lot of TF fans.

My Masterpiece moments,

1.Sideswipe being revealed as MP12.
( Up to then Grimlock was the only one I had bought as I wasn't intrested in the other molds that had been released. Sideswipe was a huge suprise at the time and it's success paved the way for more Autobot cars and other secondary characters like Soundwave and the tapes which directly influenced my decision to quit collecting Classics and focus entirely on Masterpieces. )

2.Bluestreak and Wheeljack reveals.
( My favorite Autobot cars had never looked better. )

3.Fans Toys reveal the teaser image of Scoria & Soar.
( More Dinobots, I was having some of that! )

I remember when I first heard about the 25th Anniversary Prime (Hasbro's MP-01 release), and I picked it up from Hasbro Toy Shop for $50. My mind was blown, as well. I didn't think it could be any better. The next best MP moment for me was hearing that a toon-colored MP-03 was going to be released in the U.S., as he was always my favorite Transformer. 3rd was seeing the reveal of MP Prowl. Another of my favorite 'bots, and it was so perfect. Next for me would likely be a Hound announcement.

It was Sideswipe that got me in to collecting the Masterpiece line even though I thought MP Grimlock was awesome when it came out. The head sculpt of Sideswipe, my love for the Lamborghini, him as one of the cool characters, and the Lamborghini license was enough for me to revisit my favorite childhood toy line.

Some Masterpice Moments:

-the similiarity and awesome head sculpts of Prowl and Bluestreak (I thought at first they were just repaints but on further inspection the 2 head sculpts were different

-you can set Lazerbeak on Soundwave's arm or shoulder

-Lazerbeak did not need cannon attachments - it was all integrated

-Ultra Magnus was not going to use an MP-10 as an attachment

-air brakes, which was not necessary, can be deployed on Starscream

-shoulder cannon attachments were integrated on the Datsuns

-awesome head sculpts on Rumble and Frenzy on such small figures

-all of Wheeljack looks exactly as his G1 counterpart (head, chest, feet) as well as the Lancia license

-Grimlock can change visor color from red to blue or blue to red

Call me crazy but I really wish they can redo the MP line and use all die-cast with great paint jobs and all transforming parts fitting nicely. I am willing to pay.

Hmmm masterpiece moments.

Obviously the discovery of the Hasbro version of MP-01 in my local TRU is one.
The moment I saw it there on the shelf, the size, the detail, the fact he transformed all amazing & then actually getting him for my 30th birthday was fantastic & as much as he has been bettered in every way with MP-10 I will NEVER get rid of him.
My 30th was a milestone & getting him for that birthday makes him every bit as important.

My biggest MP moment though was the news that Soundwave was coming...he was always my greatest TF as a child & holds special memories that I won't go into here so being able to get him in this scale & with the tapes to follow was an absolute dream come true.
No matter what has come (or indeed will come) will better that MP moment in my eyes he was the most important figure to me in this line.
If no more ever came from Takara or a 3P I wouldn't really mind I have my (dare I use the term) grail piece that everything else is just amazingly tasty icing on the cake.

Neil

First moment was the revel as MP Sideswipe, that announcement just about blew every G1 fans mind. It opened up the possibility of a full G1 cast being made,a new coherent direction in scale (finally)and revived the line. Second moment was MP Soundwave and his minions, still one of the most coolest looking cartoon characters period. If anything I wish he had the soundclips gimmick. Third will most likely be MP Hound's reveal, been waiting a looooooooooong time for this. Honorable mentions go to XTB's Apollyon reveal and Fanstoys/Gigas dinobots.

Needs some work but pretty solid.

For comparisons sake

Thanks for the update and info Furyan - just wished it would be Sludge as their are a few Slag versions from the other 3P's. Here's to a great-looking Triceratops mode.

Great to hear the Masterpiece Moments from you guys too! Some of them are definitely like mine, especially with the announcement of MP Sideswipe. Each teaser now is an MP moment for me now LOL!! :D

* Work in progress*

I'm sure GIGA will deliver. Still waiting on Guttur to be released....

They should do less work on him and not make it so busy with doodads all over. He looks like he's got the history of Cybertron written on him in Braille. I know you're excited about GIGA's Dinobots though so hopefully they turn out how you like them.

Ooh, I remember my first "Masterpiece Moment" - sitting on the computer, and seeing that grey prototype MP-01 for the first time (along with Binaltech Smokescreen, which was nearly as impressive!).

A more negative spin on the Masterpiece Moment concept - seeing MP Starscream's colours and "samurai hips", and coming to the realization that this line wasn't quite going in the direction I wanted. :(

Fast forward to about 2010... I was getting back into TFs in a big way, having seen that iGear had downsized MP-01 into a size that fit with some of the other Masterpieces that had been released. I quickly snagged Walmart's MP Skywarp, then TRU's MP Grimlock and Rodimus off the shelves (I got lucky finding Grimlock at the time I found it, I think!), as well as getting the "anime coloured" MP Starscream and iGear Coneheads (which I've since sold for a tidy profit)... but the big moment was seeing MP-11, and then again when MP-12 was announced, which blew me away. Up until then, we had never seen any sign that Takara would be producing the smaller, "lesser-known" characters like Sideswipe!

Ditto MP-13, then Prowl, etc... :) What a ride.

It's intresting to see Giga have changed their minds on the aesthetic only two robots in.

Guttur was more influenced by the G1 toy but Grassor looks like they're now attempting to copy FT's cartoon accuracy by hiding the dinosaur legs in robot mode.

I was such a naive, wide-eyed collector at the time that those aspects didn't bother me much at all. I was just happy to get such an awesome looking, detailed Starscream figure. Hell, I was in love with the Classics Starscream. But oh, how the times have changed me into a more jaded, critical collector of just about everything.

masterpiece moment. seeing the 20'th anniversary prime announced in the gamestop holiday newsletter for 50$, then getting him for 25$ becuase of the employee discount :lol
