I am familiar with the forum rules, as I wasn't stipulating that I had anything for sale, just curious if anyone knew market value, as ebay is not the perfect gauge for it. Thanks.

eBay is the best gauge of "market" value you're going to find, since auctions allow the market to really tell you price, as opposed to situations where folks can sit on things until someone offers the amount they want to sell for (in which case you aren't effectively tapping into the effects of competition and your restrictive audience means you are limiting information to potential consumers). If you want to know the prices that people are paying on collector forums, the BST threads from Transformers forums would be the next best thing, though the easiest calculation there is to knock 10-20% off of eBay listings to find what people are going to be willing to buy outside of eBay, with associated protections.

XTransbots have made this statement in regards to a couple of QC issues that have been pointed out in early reviews,

Dear Fans and Retailers:
We've had a discussion regarding issues that have popped up with production sample reviews. We will address the elbow sliding mechanism and the bicep swivel at the factory before we ship to our retailers. The problem has been solved. Additionally, we'll include another set of tighter fitting ball sockets for the shoulders. All arms are able to hold the canon up without any issue but some arms seem loose holding it outward. If this is your experience, the replaceable sockets will fix that issue. We'll also include a small adapter for the extension canon's secondary mode. Finally, we'll include a small screwdriver with each figure for accessing the battery chamber and in case you need to replace the shoulder sockets. Apollyon will ship from our factory the last week of April. Your retailers should have them by early May. Thank you all for your patience, support and feedback. And thank you to the reviewers for their valuable input.

So Corsair what's your verdict? If you want a Megs I your MP collection would you recommend it?

Difficult to say with absolute certainty until it's in hand but it looks like it's going to be shipping to retailers the last week of this month so it'll likely arrive in early May so there's not long to wait.

The designer ( 539 Designs ) and XTransbots have made all the right noises about wanting to improve their QC from previous releases and the early video reviews suggests those comments are legit. Their response to the issues that showed up in the reviews was what I would expect from Fans Toys which also goes massively in their favor.

I was hugely sceptical about this figure but all credit to XTB for upping their game and at £85-£100 it looks like it'll be a hell of a bargain that might make other 3rd parties rethink their pricing strategies.

With Takara seemingly more intrested in making goofy looking Power Ranger robots and nobodies like Tracks the chances of an official Megatron scaled to MP10 seem uncertain at best unless they suddenly pull one from nowhere.

Even if they did, I don't think it's likely to look much different because there's only so many ways all the parts can be hidden and the price is more likely to be £150 plus.

So yeah, I'm behind this figure.

who knows when or if Takara will do their Megs and they will likely tackle Galvatron first anyway.....I say get on board for Xtransbots Megs now

I am tired of waiting around for Takara to announce and make stuff,So I am pretty happy that 3rd party companies are making figures we hsve been waiting for to complete our collections

Takara better take notice of the 3P companies making great looking Transformers and get off their high-horse. If they keep thinking that they are THE go-to Transformers specialists and that their loyal customers will wait for them, they better think again. The only products coming out this year so far are Star Saber and Tracks. Another few months from now, half a year will be gone and this is what they have so far? I hope I am wrong and they have some serious surprises up their sleeves. I have broken my allegiance with Takara by going with Badcube's Brawny and Backland and KFC's Transistor. I have on pre-order Giga Power Gutter, Xtransbots Apollyon and Arkose, Badcube's Wardog, Omnigonix's Spinout, and Fantoys' Spotter and Insecticons for my G1 TF fix. That is a lot of money that could have gone into Takara's pockets. Even if Takara starts pumping out with great figures, I will still continue to look toward 3P companies for figures that are not made by Takara.

While I think you´re right and Takara isn´t the best in their field, I have to say that I got my Combiner Wars Skydive, Alpha Bravo and Firefly yesterday and I think they look terrific. Great sculpt and great transformation and I´m REALLY looking forward to complete Superion and Menasor, no matter the problems, cause they´ll be my first combiners.

I had the very first Skydive and Silverbolt, but due to bad support in my hometown nothing else showed up and I sat there with a limb and the body, that´s and it and while the 3rd party Superion´s look great it´s just way to tough money for me to go out there and hunt down all those 3rd party pieces.

Feral Rex for me and maybe then something else...but...I guess the same goes for many guys: Not everybody has the money to choose the field, you know?

:wink1:

With all due respect, Kara.
I was not checking prices, I was researching and this thread is the place to go here, I thought.
And a general serach on ebay for Transformers onl get you so far...

I couldn't help myself and I preordered the xtransbot megatron and was wondering if the takara soundwave and mp11 starscream scale with him?

Xtransbot Megatron is 9.8 inches tall according to BBTS. If you have those two just measure and see.... although I think Soundwave is 9 inches and Starscream is close to 12.... at least coronation starscream.

I plan on buying MP-05 Megatron..... how sturdy is he to pose or let alone stand?

Avoid like the plague.

The combination of the skinny legs, oversized fusion cannon and general fragile feel of the figure mean that getting the figure to stand in even the most basic of poses is problematic.

I bought mine as at the time I was curious about the MP line but resold it after a week largely because I was fed up of having to rearrange my display every time it fell over which was often.

For a figure that was only designed in 12 days it represents an achievement of sorts, but it's still a pile of crap, particularly by today's standards.

Deedzy,
Apollyon is correctly scaled with everything from MP10 onwards.

I have MP-4 and MP-5, and as folks have mentioned, they scale well together. Appolyon looks MILES better in bot mode, but if you get a new/barely used MP5, you should have no problem standing him. The weight of the fusion cannon is an issue, but if you're only posing him in museum pose, he stands fine.

I've only transformed my MP-5 from bot to gun and back once, so he's still relatively stiff. But I've had it on the shelf for a couple of years now, and it's never fallen over...

I have my MP5 on display for...another month? Whenever Appy comes.

Scourge looks great. Now we need a freaking Galvatron...

Agreed. It's a weird figure; I want it one minute, I don't the next. Pea ugh review was shocking. I really felt for the guy. He's a top reviewer who flies by transformations but this one had him on the ropes! It was painful viewing.
Hopefully these QC issues will and have been addressed and as you say for £100 that's not a bad price at all.
Hmmmmmm....

I am still on the fence too.
He does look good but the QC issues are still worrying.

I have the cash sat in PP right now but I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger on him.

I'm actually more leaning towards putting more to it & getting a FT Dinobot or finally getting Magnus
Just something really niggling me.

Neil

Cheers for the info mate.

No problem!

Sardo Numspa,
The original MP Prime mold scales very nicely with MP05 but not with anything else which makes it pointless in any display that focuses on the rebooted MP line which started with MP10.

Mine was bought from new and in the short time I had it I probably had to stand it back up 2-3 times a day even when in the most basic of poses, a Masterpiece level toy should not have it's articulation rendered largely useless by poor design elements that lead to stability issues.

Wanderer,
There's no doubt that transforming Apollyon will require a lot of patience so that's me screwed :lol

I'm not overly excited about the gun mode, it's not like I'm a kid and can go running round the streets pretending to shoot people with it like I did the G1 toy, in today's environment I'd get shot by a police armed response unit quicker than you can say "suspected terrorist" :lol

soundwave,

I had some cash on Paypal which has just paid for Badcube Warpath :yess:
