The only one that matters.

And the opinion of thousands that are selling their QW's as we speak.

Also, Quakewave's backpack parts-form, it doesn't actually (cleverly) makes a difference on the TT's version if you use it or not.

Weight is irrelevant to me TBH, they go on a display and stay there. I don't actually play with them even though is tempting sometimes. ;)

No one is saying QW is a bad toy. Is a great robot resembling Shockwave and a fine addition to ones collection.

I'd just rather get the superior version to my eyes.

Thousands selling their Quakewave? Just done a search on Ebay, 25 listings......................

Bob

It does, thanks Neil! So if these estimates are accurate, I'd be looking at:

$61 for Hot Rod ($47 + $14 4-day shipping)

$145 for Ultra Magnus ($105 + $39 4-day shipping)

$126 for Shockwave ($99 + $27 4-day shipping)

Altogether, that'd net me a savings of about $103 versus buying them domestically.

No problems at all buddy, more than happy to help

Thats quite the saving & well worth doing if you ask me

Still considering going UK supplier or not myself.

Anyone here in the U.S. and orders from anime export? Do you get taxed when your package arrives?

MP Shockwave does more or less exactly what I expected it to in terms of being different to Quakewave, I remember having discussions with a friend on the subject when Quakewave first came out over 2 years ago.

Being different is cool, it provides another option for Shockwave fans who want multiple versions of the character.

I don't think being different is an automatic sign that something is better though and neither is a specific company trademark....I'll buy from whoever makes something I feel is worth the money.

From MP10-21 it was Takara, for the forseeable future it's going to be Fans Toys, Badcube, XTransbots and MMC.

These days there's something for everyone and that's great.

Because eBay is the only place you can sell stuff. Right.

No, but it does make your statement that "thousands are selling their Quakewave as we speak" look a bit hyperbolic and perhaps wrong?

Anyway I agree TT Shockwave looks good and I'm glad people are excited to add him to their collection.

The risk of course is the moment you receive a defective product and have to pay to ship it back to Japan, that savings dries up real fast.

No but it's a good indicator. Being SUPER generous you could maybe make the argument that there's ten times the number being sold on eBay if you include other sites. That's hundreds not thousands. And I don't think that's actually the case. For example, on TFW2005's BST boards there's only three threads that have posts that occur after the MP announcement. I didn't check to see if they put their Quakewave's up for sale before or after. And yes I know people do sales through PMs and the like but again, it's a good indicator.

To me anyway, as someone who was searching for a Quakewave to buy about a year ago the only thing the announcement seems to have done is lower the prices on the secondary market. There doesn't seem to be that big of an impact on quantity. Some impact sure but not a lot.

People always want whats new and considered better. That's a reality of modern collecting. You can't hold on to a piece and have it climb in value for a 10 years because there is always a better version just around the corner.

I always wait for the official, because I'm in no hurry to fill up my shelves or spend my money. I think Unlicensed companies kind of prey on the impulses of collectors to buy everything at once, even though they give a lot of options - toy collectors are a pretty impulsive lot generally.

I wasn't trying to start a pointless discussion, I might've over exaggerated a little. Sorry about that.

I sold mine I guess at the right time, but it was hard parting with him, as he is a very well built robot.

It's happened to me once with HLJ. My Sideswipe had some paint imperfections, but nothing earth shattering. It's a gamble, but I believe TT's QC to be really good TBH.

You are probably right. Like I said, I didn't really want to start a pointless discussion.

We now have two SW's to choose from (three if the other one comes out) so it is a good time to be a TF collector.

I really hope Quakeblast comes out. Not sure if it's something I'd buy but I'd like to see a final production piece. Love the look of his legs. For me third party stuff I just gerenally like more than the official releases. More variety and it's all pretty much of high quality. Sure you pay for that quality but it's nice to get Classics style stuff (which is my personal favorite style) done as well as MP stuff.

I feel the same way as you. I've considered 3rd party, but catching up with official Masterpiece releases alone is a considerable money and space investment. If I bought every awesome 3rd party figure that came down the pike, I'd be spending thousands every year and be out of shelf space in no time.

I've actually read good things about HLJ's customer service, and that if you do receive a defective product they will cover your shipping cost back to Japan. I think I'll wait to see how their prices compare on the new Masterpiece figures before risking an order with Anime Export. All of my Takara Tomy figures so far have had some degree of imperfections, but nothing worth making a fuss over yet.

On that note, my reissue Sideswipe arrived this week, and apart from missing a spot of white paint on the Autobot logo, he's awesome. Very fun little figure.

Bonus Pic: Here's Starscream explaining to Soundwave for the 100,000 time why, in Megatron's absence, he should be the new leader:

Starscream's my favorite Transformer, and I hated to see him go in the movie, but. . .it's hard to argue that that wasn't the perfect ending to the guy who attempted to subvert and replace Megatron at every opportunity :lol
