These guys are FT employees, like a subdivision as per the guys at TFW2005. They don't get why they are doing a 2.0 of the bot and it sounds like a way to do the entire Dinobots under this new subdivision of FT.
It sucks for those that have scoria and it's now basically worthless of you think about it.
I don't collect as an investment so whatever happens with Scoria's value isn't going to be a problem for me.
I have a first run MP08 that's worthless now. When I get FT Grimlock I'll donate MP08 to a charity store.
If it ever gets to a point where I replace Scoria and I can only get peanuts for it I'll just do the same thing.
I'm personally holding out for just Thrust. I typically only buy one of every mold (Ratchet being the exception), but feel the conehead retool is enough to justify having one of them in my collection as well. Thrust was the conehead I had as a kid, and the one whom I think would be most diverse from the existing decepticon line in terms of color palette, so I'm passing on Ramjet.Ramjet has me really torn. Not an essential guy, and getting one means getting all three, which ain't cheap. But, he looks great. And Season 2 means he's definitely on my radar.
Here's my look at MP-29 Shockwave with some comparison against the recent FT-03T Quakewave. There are aspects of Quakewave that I prefer, but overall I love the look of the new Shockwave and how it displays perfectly with the other MP Decepticons.
Nice review and comparisons. One thing I am not liking is the backpack and the height. He is supposed to be as tall as Optimus and Megatron.

No he is not.
Maybe on the comics.
Takara have announced an Anime version of Red Alert, complete with anime style Autobot symbol and off white paint job. Not sure how I feel about this; are they going to revisit Soundwave to paint white what was previously silver? Anime Wheeljack without sponsor logos? For me it's a little too slavish to the cartoon, with next to no detail in alt mode; not even headlights. Looks like Hasui's real world car concept is no more; maybe they couldn't get a license for Jazz, Cliffjumper or Sunstreaker and have decided to to go more anime accurate so they don't need to get actual licenses in future and use real world vehicles.
And while I appreciate the light-piped eye when it works, when it doesn't catch the light it just appears dull and green (from the surrounding purple). Just painting the eye with a shiny metallic paint like the original G1 toy would have looked much better and - again - felt more premium.
If your speculation is right regarding Jazz, Cliffjumper, etc., then I welcome it with open arms! Better to get non-realistic cars than no cars at all. But to completely do away with the more realistic aesthetic would be unfortunate. I personally would be perfectly happy with more cartoon-accurate figures only, but I know some collect because they want realistic looking vehicles that transform into robots more or less like the original animated/box art versions. And to pull the rug out from those folks would be too bad.Takara have announced an Anime version of Red Alert, complete with anime style Autobot symbol and off white paint job. If so that wouldn't be Masterpiece at all to me; that's what CHUG was for.
This is clearly the direction they already went with MP-29 Shockwave, with all of the contrast muted by elevated blacks and reduced whites and all chrome removed. I strongly, strongly dislike it. And I'm concerned this is a new direction for the Masterpiece Series and they're basically rebooting the line a third time. I hope I'm wrong about that. Ideally, this would mean there'll be a "toy colors" release of Shockwave in the future that's aesthetically in line with MP-10 through MP-28.Takara have announced an Anime version of Red Alert, complete with anime style Autobot symbol and off white paint job. The biggest news of this listing though is that Takara has announced that this is the first of a whole new line of Masterpiece repaints which aims at achieving a more toon accurate deco. Who do you think is next? Who do you want the most in this style? Let us know!
