A gradual reboot towards an increasingly cartoon styled aesthetic has been evident to varying degrees on all the new MP molds released since MP22 so the "plus" line seems like another progression of that.

The more I see of that figure, the more I like it.

I've just bought Generations Rhinox, Waspinator and Rattrap and they've been a huge breath of fresh air to my collection so even with my present opinion of the official MP line being less than great there's a temptation to give that figure a chance as it's something completely new.

G1 will always be the bread and butter for Takara but other continuities have characters that would make great Masterpiece figures and I think it'd keep things fresh if more eras were incorporated and more often than they have been so far.

At the very least I hope Primal does well enough to ensure Beast Wars Megatron gets made.

agree 100% the light piping works when you have it back lit, but in a normal setting it has a funky dull green... hated it... so i painted the tip. made a world of difference! just doing the tip allows for the light piping to still work, but gives you a much more alive looking figure in normal settings...

That's so much better. I'd love to have a non-permanent solution that I could remove should I ever sell the figure. Maybe I'll just stick something to the eye.

Cheaper at amiami.

Cheapest is Anime Export. You pay in full. I paid 77.00 USD yesterday which included the PayPal conversion from USD to YEN.

Ami ami doesn't allow you save up items and ship when you want. Ami ami forces you to ship each month only.

Thanks! Yeah definitely improves the look a hundredfold. And if you want to do it, all you need to do is pick up your preferred choice of yellow acrylic at Michael's or hobby lobby in their paint section. They sell them in little tubes for about $1.50. You can easily remove this down the road if you wish to sell. The plastic on the eye is clear and smooth and will not permanently bond the paint to it. So you should be able to scratch it off with your fingernail and clean whatever tiny bit of residue off on a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol. None of this requires removing the eye either. You can do this while still attached in the head. Hope that helps.

Here's my look at MP-29 Shockwave with some comparison against the recent FT-03T Quakewave. There are aspects of Quakewave that I prefer, but overall I love the look of the new Shockwave and how it displays perfectly with the other MP Decepticons.

Thanks for the review, nice comparison with Quakewave. And sweet pics of Ramjet. :duff

Takara have announced an Anime version of Red Alert, complete with anime style Autobot symbol and off white paint job. Not sure how I feel about this; are they going to revisit Soundwave to paint white what was previously silver? Anime Wheeljack without sponsor logos? For me it's a little too slavish to the cartoon, with next to no detail in alt mode; not even headlights. Looks like Hasui's real world car concept is no more; maybe they couldn't get a license for Jazz, Cliffjumper or Sunstreaker and have decided to to go more anime accurate so they don't need to get actual licenses in future and not use real world vehicles. If so that wouldn't be Masterpiece at all to me; that's what CHUG was for.

It figures TT would announce this just a few weeks after I picked up MP-14. :gah: Eh, I don't think I need a 2.0. Nor do I need more toon-accurate or toy-accurate color schemes of previous releases if TT decides to go in that direction.

Those "+" news are a bit worrying really. Does that mean they'll re-release everything with toon accurate colors? What about from now on? Will there be a vanilla MP version as well? I've yet to receive Shockwave, but add me to the group that would've preferred a darker purple as well as some chrome like Soundwave.

I'll be pissed if I have to sell the Vanilla (+???) version for next to nothing if another (better) version becomes available.

Do you know what the more I see Takara Shockwave the more I'm leaning towards getting the Fans Toys Re-issue instead.

Just looks nicer to me.

The Lavender used on Takara's one just doesn't sit well with me, really should be darker

Your cell shaded MP set is amazing. I also like the rock formation diorama.
Thanks Lotus....just waiting for devastator and bruticus to be finished up for a big group shot.
Very happy with the diorama.

That will be such a nice homage to the actual cartoon seeing all those characters in a group shot cell shaded. Very exited to see that. :hi5:

Pre-ordered Optimus Primal from Kapow.

At £80 it's not too badly priced and the Generations BW characters I bought should look OK next to him.

Sometimes a figure looks so good that any usual rules for how I collect go out the window and Primal is one of those.

Yeah. He looks great. I ordered two so that I can have both modes displayed.

Hopefully they do a Megatron and Ill have them fighting on both modes

I have never watched BW.

Is it any good? Image there any connections to G1?

I have started to watch season one of Beast Wars. For me I have no nostalgic connection to it. I feel it is hard to watch. It doesn't have the charm of watching an old hand drawn cartoon even if you have never seen the cartoon before. The Computer graphics used to animate are harsh ,but were state of the art at the time. Everything has a Shinny Chrome aspect to it.

I'm almost done with Season one and what bothers me the most is every 2 minutes they say "nameofcharacter MAXIMIZE" or nameofcharacter Terrorize"
This gets old so fast. Basically every single transformation has the character saying this.

The background music to me is like listening to mild metal music. It is nothing like the G1 Cartoon background music.

My personal opinion who doesn't have a connection to it. I'm sure if I had a nostalgic connection maybe I would feel different.
