I have never watched BW.

Is it any good? Image there any connections to G1?

I love the series, it's personally my favorite and I find it to be the best written of any of the transformers shows. The first season is pretty dated but once you get to season two where we get to the Transmetals and they actually have robot looking animal forms it visually gets better. The thing I liked about the show is that fan favorite characters die, some they find a way to bring back but for the most part, once a character is gone they are gone. In fact I only think one character comes back, the rest stay dead.

The series does tie into the G1 cartoon and it does it from pretty early on, one or two G1 characters make an appearance and then in season 3 is when the show really ties itself to G1.

And this would come down to personal taste but the show does have some mystery and leaves some questions unanswered.

This man speaks the truth. Initially I wasn't too hot on BW when it aired. Transformers? As animals?? The hell is dis???

But one day, whiling I was taking a nap after coming home from school, my brother woke me up and told me some awesome $#!+ was happening on BW and told me to come downstairs and watch it immediately. It was the season premiere for season 3. Without spoiling it for you Fran...the G1 connections blew my teenage mind when I watched it. I was in awe. I was like "is that...? Whoa when did they...? How is this possib...oh snap, this is dope!"

Give it a try fran. It's really good. Very well written.

IMO, skip beast machines. Optimus primal and his story with the maximals ended with BW S3.

Edit-I wanna add:

The intro music leaves ALOT to be desired. It's crap. Pure crap. One of the reasons I didn't get on board when it aired. Power on through or skip the intro music and just get right into the show.

Yeah. He looks great. I ordered two so that I can have both modes displayed.

Hopefully they do a Megatron and Ill have them fighting on both modes

I'll wait and see how I like the first one before deciding on another, I won't rule it out though.

I'd also be intrested in Megatron, Rattrap, Cheetor, Rhinox, Dinobot, Waspinator & Blackarachnia.

I've not seen much of the cartoon yet as there isn't a region 2 DVD set available and finding complete episodes on Youtube seems to be a bit hit & miss.

The "Maximise!", "Terrorise!" thing irritates me, and getting used to Prime and Megatron looking & sounding so different is taking some doing but I have really enjoyed the following,

1.No Bumblebee!

2.No humans!
( Can we have more TF continuities like this please? )

3.Rattrap
("We're all gonna die")

4.Waspinator
( Nobody died in G1 until the movie. Waspinator seems to get blown up every other week :lol )

5.Optimus Primal
( Doesn't appear to have the same grating "I am always right" persona as G1. Slightly disappointed he doesn't carry a smaller monkey named Roller around on his back :lol)

Haven't done too much looking at the old toys yet but like the look of,

Neo Break
( It's a penguinformer! )

Heinrad
( A transforming raccoon with a built in alarm clock. If it wasn't so expensive I'd troop build with it. )

If you watched the Michael Bay turds all the way to the end, you will not be disappointed by Beast Wars. The Maximize and Terrorize is explained in the show, Beast Wars and Beast Machines.

Like every iteration of TF, there's always stuff to like and dislike throughout the course of each respective show. For instance I was able to appreciate RiD (car robots) for what it is. I hate it because it was soooo anime, and not the good kind of anime, but the cheesy kind (well that's because it was a Japanese production)...

However I was able to appreciate it because it bought TFs back into the world of vehicles. The designs were stellar and the toys are still amazing given all the advancements in toy design today. Story telling wise, it was awful. But it gave us kick @$$ toys.

I didn't like BW until I found out it's place in the G1 continuity. And it wasn't until I got older that I started to really appreciate it with repeat viewings. There's character growth, humor, action. It went places and introduced concepts I wasn't accustomed to in an animated show during its syndication. Animation and visual quality definitely show its age. But overall, it's an amazing show that gets better with repeat viewings. One of my favorite things to do back in the day was record each episode, watch it, then visit BWTF.com to read benson yee's review and episode breakdown. He would point out bunch of things that I hadn't noticed, and upon re watching the episode, it made me love it even more.

I agree that screaming out maximize and terrorize is grating to the nerves...but eh, you get past it eventually.

I only managed the first 2 Bayformers movies, I won't subject myself to any more than that :lol

Based on the bits I've seen so far I think I'll be OK with Beast Wars.

BrooklynWolf X,
I never knew Beast Wars existed until a few years ago as when my initial intrest in the 80's ended I didn't get back into the brand until around 2008.

Until very recently I had never thought of exploring any other era but now seems like the right time as my intrest in G1 is dwindling.

Beast Wars is something entirely new to me and I've never heard anything bad about the storylines and characterisation which is the most important thing.

Ok guys I'll continue watching Beast Wars. Like a couple of you said Season 2 will be better.

Id also get those. Although I think Hasbro's MP 10 is close enough TBH. I dig him more than the TT version.

I have the Hasbro version of MP-10 but not the TT. I was planning on getting one but if TT is just going to reissue him with white hips and thighs and toon-accurate blue eyes, I may as well wait. I don't need three Masterpiece Primes.

The show just keeps getting better to the point you care about the characters and has very emotional moments.

Thanks for this because I was going to stop watching season one. I'm glad this conversation started. Going to carve some time this weekend to finish season one get into season 2.

No problem. I just think it is the best Transformers show that grown ups can enjoy as well. I know the graphics are dated and the robot designs are a bit weird, but one eventually gets used to them.

I have watched all the transformers shows and Beast Wars along with Animated and Prime have the best stories in my opinion.

Very cool, I have watched all seasons of G1 and Prime. It was a sad day when Prime/Beast Hunters ended. I liked how calm some scenes were where you just heard the characters talking without background music interrupting. Anyway Prime had a pretty good story line. Like I said I will revisit Beast Wars and move past season 1.

I'll get used to the robots looking so different soon enough, the CGI looking so dated isn't an issue either,

I saw a bit of Prime and didn't like how influenced by Bayformers it seemed to be. I thought Animated was OK, the toy line had some decent stuff.

Beyond that I've not seen anything other than G1....for now.

I need to see Beast Wars - I keep hearing it's very well written.

Some pics of my latest Constructicons. Love them all so much.

I just realized they're released an Optimus Primal :yess: I'm not a Transformers buff by any means but I always liked Beast Wars, Optimus Priman and Rattrap are probably the only characters I'm a fan of so PO 2 OPs

But I just read it needs batteries, anyone care to tell me why it needs batteries? Please tell me it's not sounds or action features, leds on toys I can tolerate, sounds and action features I can't :lol

EDIT: The Takara one, I forgot to mention.

EDIT 2: Found it, eyes light up :lol
