Dotm is all action and no story... Well there's a story but it sucks. This did not right the wrongs of ROTF and in fact was just the same old Sam crap. There are awesome parts in it when the autobots fight the deceptions but there's NOT enough of it. I don't want to see humans fighting deceptions! If giant robots were real and I used my AR on one it would laugh at me and then squish me. I don't give an f about Sam getting a job (although malkovich was excellent sans ticklefast with bb). Why couldn't they have done some character development of some transfomers? It's not called: HUMANS 3 Dark of the Moon... I know there's some devout g1 fans out there that see my point or am I crazy? I so badly wanted to like it after ROTF...

I agree with a lot of the things you said. I think the story is a little better than ROTF though. I was really hoping to see more Autobot VS Decipticon action and was greatly disappointed. DOTM does have its moments of awesome, but the fact that its only just those few scenes and moments is a let down.

I enjoyed it for what it is though. Prime definitely made the movie for me. Hopefully we will eventually get a Transformers movie where the bots take center stage and a great story to go with it.

I totally agree with fear75. Same humans killing all the Decepticons stuff from the first 2 movies. Same old "stubborn" authority against autobots. Same old useless autobots. Boring Sam love story. "cheap" comedy. It's called Transformers but there wasn't really any Transforming since all the Decepticons are drones piloting ships:gah: I honestly enjoyed Green Lantern more than I did this

Some people just expect waay too much, ive been hearing the same crap since movie 1.

Listen, its a movie about robots based off of toys, you are never gonna get an amazing story. And if you thought the story sucked, then you must think G1 sucks as well, since it was based off of two G1 episodes.

I think a lot of people just went into this movie wanting to hate it, since its trendy to hate on the movies and movie-verse toys, which is really lame in itself.

There IS a decent story, there ARE more robot-focused sequences and action, and it IS better than ROTF. What else do you want ffs?

Meh, sounds like I'll be waiting for the Blu-Ray or Netflix.

I hear where you're coming from, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm sure I will enjoy it somewhat as well. But I think you're wrong - we CAN get better Transformer films. Everything I'm hearing about the third movie is similar to what I saw in the first two - "cheap comedy", too many humans, etc - and I've ALWAYS preferred G1 so there's that going against it too. And of course we all know what to expect with Michael Bay's direction...

As for an amazing story... No one's saying we're gonna get an Academy Award movie or something here - but it'll be nice if they reboot this in more of a G1 style with a director with more... substance. Personally I think the stories were fine with the first two movies - it was just the execution (i.e. writing and dialog) that lacked.

I don't know why I should lower my expectations about anything I'm gonna spend my time watching. There are scores of great comic movies based on characters originally designed for children, and fans don't have to lower their expectations to enjoy them. I think guys like Bryan Singer, Chris Nolan, and Jon Favreau have proven that you can make genuinely good movies of this type. Why should it be any different for GI Joe or Transformers? I'm not gonna let filmmakers off the hook for playing down to their audience. Ultimately, all I want is an enjoyable movie. Personally, CG and explosions aren't enough to provide me with a good movie-going experience. I need believable acting, a story that makes sense and is compelling on its terms, reasonable direction and cinematography, ebbs and flows and rational progressions in the story, the proper balance of conflict and resolution, character arcs, effective and purposeful sub-plots, good comedy when comedy is to be had, and coherency in story and on-screen activity, to name a few. The first two TF films failed in these departments for me, so they weren't enjoyable.

As for it being "trendy to hate" on this franchise, that's not true at this point. The franchise just hasn't been very good. In my observations it is more trendy to defend this film than to hate on it at this point. Just like you say some go in expecting they'll hate it, some (like you) go in expecting it is gonna be awesome and they're gonna love it no matter what. How else can you explain irrational claims that a small handful of early, selective "critical" reviews prove "all the haters" wrong and demonstrate that the critics love this film? That is the definition of selectively taking unrepresentative information that fits into your expectations and hopes for this film and treating that as objective, representative information instead of efforts at self-validation. I agree with you, by the way, that people with low expectations prime themselves to dislike this movie. But you should understand that it works the other way as well as you have demonstrated. :peace

This is how I see the TF live action movies. They are good for the "brand", they are enjoyable to some degreee (at least the first one), some of the toys are awesome, and it's a good thing to have it be this popular. We have gotten sub-standard movies, we deserve better, and you know what to expect from Michael Bay...either you get him or you don't. I am looking forward to DOTM but I ain't gonna lie, my expectations are in the ____ter. :duff

It really truly makes up for ROTF man, seriously it does. If you need any more proof, i thought the collective score over at IMDB was pretty much definitive: 7.3 out of 10. ROTF got a 5.9 (lol) and movie 1 got a 7.1. A good score by any stretch of the imagination.

A warning: The first act drags a little i will admit, and yes can be goofy at times (at others genuinely funny), but once stuff starts happening, it gets really serious and dark. Things get REALLY bad for everyone, people and robots dying left right and center, civilians getting vaporized etc and it really really picks up.

I was lucky enough to see Dark of the Moon last night, and Sentinal Prime was an amazing character. Voiced by Leonard Nemoy, this Prime wasn't one to mess with. The figures out of the box is impressive, but lacking some movie accurate paint applications and details that I went to town with.

These are both non-transforming customs.

Here's a list of the modifications done to Sentinal Prime:
- Head on ball joint
- LED lights swapped from yellow to bright blue (both head and fire truck light bar)
- Improved ankles for more dynamic poses
- Rebuilt from scratch new chest
- Added heels for more dynamic poses
- added hoses and other small details
- removed back kibble
- built system to attach shield to Sentinal's back
- realistic wear/tear and aging on his paint
- realistic battle damage

SPOILERS:

I saw it and still too much stupid and useless comedy. It was better than part 2 but not nearly as good as part 1.

I would give them:
Transformers - A-
Transformers 2 - D-
Transformers 3 - C-

It was very cool seeing it in 3D and there are some pretty good scenes with Optimus. Some dumb ones too though. I just don't understand why they think they need to add in certain robots for comic relief. Not cool to have an intense moment ruined by a dumb robot joke. The original cartoons are still so much serious than these movies! The final battle just didn't have the intense drama like the original had either. It was choppy and really all over the place.

They should have also had a lot more Transformer character development too. At least you got to know some of the robots in the original movie. This one had zero development and so many unknown Decepticons. It could have been badass to have Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp going around at the end instead of unknown Decepticon ships...Shockwave could have been really cool too and in charge of the Cybertron transport like in the cartoon. I wanted more Megatron too. What a lame battle at the end with Prime. It was worth seeing in 3D and had amazing effects, just fell short overall.

From Empire's DOTM review......

"After he’s cleared of sexual harassment at the end of the classic Simpsons episode, "Homer Badman", Homer J. Simpson turns to his wife, and gleefully announces, “Marge, my friend, I haven’t learned a thing.”

Michael Bay is Homer Simpson".

:lol :rotfl :lol

So i really enjoyed DOTM! It was BADA$$$!

Megatron is my favorite character in the films, is there any chance or a higher end larger scale megatron figure? Similar to the Masterpiece series?

Any help would be great :)
