Yea right now he is my favorite, too and will stay my favorite unless I can manage to get the new and (correct me if I'm wrong) final Masterpiece figure, MP-10 Optimus with a much more G1 accurate look

I did see that (and thanks for correcting my misspelling of Grimlock. Damn iPhone correcting me :lol). I saw that his fingers straighten out completely, and his blaster folds in half and stores in the area where his head goes in truck mode. Damn expensive hobby this collecting is :(

haha i know the feeling. My iphone tends to "correct" things that don't need correcting as well. But yep that's the MP Optimus and that sucker is running a wopping $250 at BBTS. I'm trying to decide if I should sell my 20th Ann MP Optimus to get some funds for it. Problem is, he'll be smaller than MP Megatron from the looks of it.
Will there me a LC Megatron? There has to be!!!
At this point, we can only hope
How about $30 for a loose and mint buster prime from the same seller? I love bringing this up :lol

:horror:horror

yea I officially hate you for your awesome good steals, dk :lol

j/k :1-1:

If I had Buster Prime, I'd have no need for the DKM01 Prime

It's kind of interesting when you think that the filmmakers deliberately tried to make the Transformers LESS human, making them look more like robotic insects with sometimes quite odd proportions (especially Starscream).

I realize they thought it would be more realistic to have them look more "alien", but I find it makes them more difficult to relate to.

If the next film is a reboot I think the whole "realism" thing should be thrown out the window.....they're an alien race so who's to say they wouldn't be able to change scale at will the way Megatron or Soundwave used to?

Also, bright blue or black F-15's or oddball alt modes like G1 Kup & Blurr are FUN!

None of the above would work in a live action movie, it simply wont. It would look so silly. Cartoons are one thing, movies are a whole different game altogether since they need to appeal to general audiences, not fans. Sorry but we just dont matter. A little homage here and there is all we are ever going to get...and personally i think thats a good thing.

Heres some interesting news though: Jason Statham for lead role in TF4?

Haven't seen an MP Grimlock on shelves since about 2 weeks after they released. The MPs go pretty fast.

Ah, too bad. Still, one of the TRUs I'll be going to seems to keep stuff FOREVER. I bet I still see the old GI Joe resolute packs there... We'll see.

Is that really what they were going for? It doesn't look anymore G1 than the original to me.

Agreed!

Throughout the history of television, film and indeed other forms of entertainment there have been all kinds of concepts that on paper sound completely ludicrous but somehow manage to work to great effect eg,

The longest running sci-fi show in the world is about an alien with two hearts travelling through time in a machine that looks like a 1960's police box.....2013 is it's 50th anniversary.

The Back to the Future movies feature a similar time travel concept only using a DeLorean.....didn't stop them becoming hugely popular,

One of the most successful gimmicks in professional wrestling is a guy that's meant to be an undead zombie.....the Undertaker has been among the top stars for over 20 years now.

With the right performers and production team pretty much anything could work, including mass shifting Transformers, it just requires a little imagination.....movies are meant to be a form of escapism so why let reality get in the way?

Live action isn't the way I'd do it anyway, a fully animated CGI movie would be preferable to me.

Maybe it wouldn't make the same money as the Bayformers movies have but it wouldn't necessarily have to for it to be considered a success.

I'm a realist, I know such a movie is unlikely but it's no big deal because for me Transformers has never been about the big screen movies or various cartoon series anyway.

willowcrew,
iGear made the scaled down MP Prime, not FansProject.

@bcm77: ah yes that's right... Goes to show how out of touch I have been with transformers haha. The last acquisition was the masterpiece grimlock.

Actually, the cab windows are off on the new MP Optimus in robot mode.

I've heard that argument going back to the early X-Men films, and never really agreed with it. It seems like some are willing to accept a certain level of ridiculousness, but not others, and the line seems very arbitrary to me. Cars that turn into robots are OK, and the robots are fine as long as they are big messy jumbles of wires. It would be silly if they looked more simplistic and aesthetically pleasing. Jets can turn into robots, but if they are bold colors than it would be silly. John Turturro can get "pissed on by" Bumblebee and no one cares. . .I guess that's not silly at all.

Watch Transformers:prime.

I saw the first 5 episodes and thought it looked like it was made on a PS2 and that the robot designs were too influenced by Bayformers.

A War For Cybertron series would for me have been much more intresting.

Shouldn’t be a problem as even Bay used it in the first live action Movie. The Allspark goes from the size of a house to something small and light enough for Sam to run around with. That was some pretty serious shrinking/mass shifting going on there!

So you’re stating that the first movie was silly and didn’t work?? :nana:

:exactly:

There's also some cheating with the robots too, which this picture illustrates,

Look how big the F-22 is compared to that Peterbilt. If "realism" was stuck to Starscream would have been big enough in robot mode to make Prime into a small cube of scrap.
