I hear you; I would have done the same after all it’s a Masterpiece.
But man TRU sure knows how to stick it to us fans. To think this thing was $100 last week.
It shows you how TRU manipulates fans with their exclusives.
Only thing now is wait for coupons or BOGO sales.

Oh, come on now - they are a business, after all. Demand goes up? Prices go up. Don't complain about living in a free capitalist society.

That said, yes, it sucks on an individual level. But TRU aren't out to screw you over. Just to make money.

And these will probably go on sale again anyway. The collector rush is definitely slowing down already.

US collectors complaining about prices should think themselves lucky that they live in a country with pricing that's generally much better than anywhere else on the planet.

Then there's the matter of more retail options, better distribution, discount cards which allow you to get even more money off items and if all else fails you can order online from various US comic/collector stores without having to pay international shipping and customs charges.

If you think TRU's pricing of MP10 is bad, you'd have a nervous breakdown if you had to deal with the way Hasbro treats the European market.

This is very true. Even in Canada, where we don't have it as bad as Europe, it's night and day... though that gap seems to be closing.

CBSA definitely needs to stop taking "their cut", though.

went by tru this a.m. to pick up a prime for my buddy but missed them on the shelves. the associate told me that a guy had bought all four about a minute after opening.

sideswipe looks flipping sweet. looking forward to this one. he was always one of my favorites.

It's the inconsistency that grates the most.

The last few Masterpieces have been available here via TRU ( or Argos in the case of Skywarp ) but for some reason Hasbro UK decided not to bother with Thundercracker so there's no guarantee of Soundwave, his cassettes or Sideswipe if they get a US release and the same kind of thing applies with all the main lines, entire waves get left out seemingly at random and the waves that do get here tend to be light on the good stuff and heavy on the pegwarmers.

I only buy Takara and 3rd party stuff as you know so it doesn't have any effect on my own collection but it sucks for other collectors in my part of the world that do like the Hasbro stuff whenever they don't get the chance to buy something at retail.

I've given up finding MP-10 in store at this point. Its either EBay or trade I guess. Don't really deal in trading TFs much, so lord knows what I'll have to give up. Friggin' jackholes over at TFW seem to have an aversion to answering their PMs when they offer anything up for sale/trade, so that's annoying. Any other good sites you guys know of to deal in TFs?

Just sold my FansProject Insecticons for £125 so once I know they've reached their destination I'll pre-order MP Soundwave & Laserbeak as I'll only have another £15 to pay :yess:

See, thats the crap I can't stand!! I swear to God I would choke that sumabish damn near to blackoutness (if that's such a word).

Its buzzards that buy the entire product on the shelves, knowing that others want such a hot item as well I abhor. I know others may not agree with me on this, but I feel that any hot item like that, that is highly sought after should be limited to just 1 or 2 if there is excess product on the shelf. Allow the people that want Optimius or any other toy for themselves to have a chance to purchase it. This is ridiculous.

Toy's R Us raising prices? Fine I can live with that.
Small shipments from distribution on hot items? I can live with that too (barely).
Scalpers? I detest because its about greed. Trying to acquire all the product just to make money. I understand about making money, but not at the expense of someone else's happiness and true appreciation of acquiring something for themselves, and not to resell.

That's just flat out greed to me. Others will disagree and that's fine, but you can bet if I was going in to buy a hot item and there were a few on the shelves, only to have someone run to it and snatch them all up, I will snatch one of whatever it is out of their hand after first asking politely may I have one of them. I don't tolerate that bs. Not AT ALL!!!!

i wouldn't have left with 4...but i totally would have left with 2...:monkey3

just to play devil's advocate though...i don't think tru really cares. the guy who bought 4...his money spends just like the guy who wants 1. maybe he was picking up some for friends, maybe he has 4 kids, idk. i don't think tru cares though if he was buying as a 'fan' or 'scalper'. they are moving product. my only gripe is they have 1-2 optimus and 5-8 thundercrackers. i mean optimus is one of the most popular characters ever. switch those production numbers :lol .

a couple of years ago i was at a tru one day when they had just put out several cases of new lotr figures plus a couple of restock cases of figures i had missed. i loaded up a shopping cart of one each and maybe had, idk, 15-20 figures? i passed the manager on the way to the register and he asked me if i was a fan or buying them to resell. i told him a was huge lotr fan and he seemed pleased i guess.

Reason Im even considering getting it is because sound wave have been the single most wanted figure since my childhood. The idea of mini robots sprouting out from a bigger robot, and the concept of the deck and tapes are just amazing IMO.

Btw, has it been confirmed that we gonna get an accurate megaton MP figure, since from what I read the previous pme isnt accurate, proportion wise?

g1 soundwave is still one of the best trasnformers ever. he was my absolute favorite growing up and was the firefly, storm shadow and fett of the transformers line (to me)....the figures that always got played with no matter what. plus buzzsaw and laserbeak were flipping awesome as well. i asked for soundwave for Christmas one year and i got absolutely zero sleep the night before.

I would pay what TRU is asking, but those c*nts in finland aren't apparently taking any MP-toys. Somehow that doesn't suprise me after they didn't even know anything about this TRU Grimlock. Twats:mad: Not that I would actually need MP-10, for I have one, but Thundercracker would have been cool.

But luckily I have pre-ordered Sideswipe for the more I hear about this guy the more I want to get one. A bit lame though that he is smaller than alternator.

The thing is, I never got a soundwave figure until 2-3 years ago, since there wasn't a lot of decent toy shops in my city when I was growing up.

I got a g1 ver prolly like 2-3 years ago and realized that it has some screen discrepancies like the eyes, and the proportion looks kinda off. The MP version is exactly what I had dreamed and wished I had ever since I saw the series during the 80s.

My personal favorites were optimus, Hotrod, grimlock and sound wave. Now that I put them on a list, I do see a pattern of similarities at least between the 3 of em.

Nothing official yet but reliable sources at TFW2005 have said that a Masterpiece Megatron version 2 is one of several in development.

The others are likely,

Sunstreaker ( Original mold and not a yellow repaint of Sideswipe with a new head. Won't be released until the latter stages of Takara's 2 year licensing deal with Lamborghini due to more important characters being released first.)

Prowl ( Very likely due to the repaint potential and Takara's good relationship with Nissan via the Alternity line. If sources are legit the design has apparently reached the stage where a full 3D model is complete. )

Ultra Magnus ( A white MP10 repaint with a new trailer/armor. )

Called my local TRU to see if they have any MP Prime instock, they said they only have a case (2 Primes) coming and priced at $138.99 :gah:

Here's a review of MP Sideswipe that shows it stood next to iGear's Ironhide,

[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D66ApkhsFLo&feature=share&list=UUoAIXvNjN5bYzMYNce0M3uw[/ame]

The scale looks just about PERFECT!

:fireworks:fireworks:fireworks:fireworks:fireworks

Actually, Sideswipe should be a little shorter than what he is now compared to Ironhide (if we are going by absolute scale). Bumblebee, Cliffjumper technically come up to about the kneecap of Optimus. The troopers (Sideswipe, Prowl, Bluestreak, etc.) come up to about the groin / waist area of Optimus. Ironhide, Ratchet, Hoist, et.c come up to about middle part of Optimus's chest. Grapple, Inferno, etc. come up to Optimus's shoulders. Blaster is just about the same size as Optimus, maybe comes up to his ear. Ultra Magnus and Grimlock would be about a head and a half taller than Optimus.

Nevertheless, Sideswipe is close enough. :yess:
