As an update to the original toy, it's perfect.

The design doesn't really bother me. I just want one scaled to the Seekers and Soundwave. A nicer headsculpt and maybe a smaller cannon would help immensely, I admit.

I don't mind the legs though. I like them better than the ones on Hegemon. These might not be cartoon accurate but at least they're G1 toy accurate; Hegemon's are neither.

So much hate for MP-05. :lol

It has flaws no doubt about it. A smaller fusion cannon would have solved a lot of the balancing issues. I wouldn't have minded some partsforming to bulk up the legs more. And I wish that it were a lot more sturdy so it wouldn't feel as if I were trying to disarm a bomb. But then again, it was a small miracle for TT to have gotten a pretty accurate robot mode and still allow for a decent gun. Like DPrime mentioned, I think it's a great update to the G1 Megatron toy. I've only displayed Megs along with MP-01 and they look great together. I like that these 2 are over-sized, and I find that other people are almost always drawn to them when looking at my display.

Would I want TT to release a Megatron that is in scale with the newer MPs? Absolutely. If they can downscale MP-05 and add some of the design elements from Hegemon (excluding the translucent plastic :slap), I'm all in. But honestly, I'd rather they tackle Ultra Magnus and Galvatron before Megatron.

I know we are a G1-centric thread but I got FE Bulkhead and Prime the other day and I have to say they are great fun to transform and cool figures to boot.
Also got WFC Voyager Soundwave and his minions. My action feature doesn't work too well but it's fun to drop the data discs on their nipples and watch them pop open nonetheless.

Megs is pretty fragile. I haven't even attempted transforming him for fear of breakage. That being said, I absolutely love him! He's the perfect companion piece to MP-01/MP-04! There might be problems putting him in dynamic poses because his oversized fusion cannon makes him lean to one side. But I found that if you lift the tabs on the top of his feet up to the bottom of the shin (covering the ankle joint), it will help stabilize Megs.
I got mine used, his trigger is broken, but since I really have no use for an over sized pistol his robot mode is perfect, just the only thing he can display with is MP-01.

MP05 is the worst Masterpiece so far, it may improve on the original toy but that wasn't exactly great even by G1 standards.

A V2 that's along similar lines to Hegemon would be very welcome.

G1 Megs was a great toy - EXTREMELY popular in the playground, as I recall vividly. It's not its fault the Sunbow animators got the design all wrong. :)

I got myself the KO oversized WFC Prime. I have broken it twice just trying to get it into alt mode. :lol That's what you get for buying a cheap knockoff.

I just remember something that was only vaguely enjoyable in alt mode as like the Masterpiece it wasn't very stable as a robot and it looked terrible.

The only decent looking G1 style Megatron toys are the Revoltech and Hegemon.

Noo...Although G1 Megatron is actually really cool toy in gun mode. It looks rather realistic and its heavy with all the cool accessories, but I never really liked his bot form.

I also must say that MP Megatron is most likely worst of the them. I just hope that remake. IMO best official mega is revoltech megatron.

Frankly, I'd rather have Megatron on my shelf than say MP-02/MP-04S or MP-03. But if you're basing it on a figure's playability and durability, then MP-05 is near the bottom.

Megatron disapproves the direction this thread is taking. :monkey3

We need more high quality, oversized knockoffs. I would love a big Animated Lugnut... I'm sure a few others, too, if I thought about it.

It's true though. The Megatron toy - in its Diaclone (or whatever) form - existed long before the Sunbow designs.

Don't get me wrong - I totally get the desire for an animation accurate G1 Megatron. It's just a pet peeve of mine - hearing that toys like Megatron and Ironhide or whatever "suck" because they didn't look like the TV show. ;)

But yeah, all the talk about quality issues, fragility - I mean, that's why I never opened mine, so I don't disagree, really. And I can't think of an MP that's really any worse, so... yeah.

Hasbro MP-10 is on Amazon UK for 35 pounds. Free shipping to select countries, and even to the US it will cost you less then it will retail at TRU. Starts shipping in 4-5 weeks.

Jeez, I think even Corsair might bite at that price. :)

In normal circumstances I'd possibly take a chance with Hasbro QC at that price although it wouldn't replace Faith Leader in my main display.

But Iron Monger is not going to get any cheaper and I aim to get it sometime during January so the £35 will go towards that....with ebay auctions I've already got about half the cash.

I am intrested to see if that price for MP10 turns out to be legit though as it seems way too good to be true. Apparently Amazon have to notify the customer if there's any change so it'll be easy enough for people to cancel them if they try pulling a fast one.

There's a theory at TFW that the UK head office for TRU may have changed their mind on releasing MP10 ( very possible ) but they already had the stock sitting in their warehouse so Amazon offered them an outlet for shifting them.

Me neither - but I'd take a chance, at least. Worse case scenario, you'd be able to sell it for more than that down the road, no doubt about it.

Meh, Iron Monger. Lame. ;)

It does seem like a "too good to be true" scenario, doesn't it?

As for me, I'm waiting till it hits clearance or something. And if I never get one, no biggie - I think I'll end up owning the mold as Ultra Magnus at some point anyway, and same as you, Faith Leader does the job for me, too. :)

I watched "More than Meets the Eye" on Netflix recently - just confirms the fact (yes, "fact") that the MP-01 design is more accurate. :)

I also felt a lot better about selling iGear's Huffer in the hopes for a larger version.

I suppose I could do that....it's not often that us Brits get the chance to make a profit on something like that after all.

It's down to personal preference of course but Iron Monger is something of a Holy Grail piece for me as instead of every armor from every movie I decided to go for a complete set from the first movie so if I get that it's just Mech Test Tony and the Mark III to go.....I'm hoping for a rerelease of the former and a 2.0 of the latter.

If it's too good to be true it's probably a good thing I don't really need MP10 as I can see there being a lot of disappointed people if it turns out to be lacking the trailer or something.

A bigger Huffer would be awesome but I'll keep the small one as I like that scale too.

My top 5 most wanted Transformers for 2013 are,

1.Masterpiece Sunstreaker
2.iGear Impactor
3.Masterpiece Prowl
4.Masterpiece Bluestreak
5.iGear Windcharger

If inside info is legit I think Prowl will be the next new Masterpiece announcement after MP10B and Streak will inevitably follow.

Smokescreen seems to be subjct to licensing issues with whoever owns the rights to the racing team his deco is based on but Takara could probably get round that by doing the color scheme from the G1 toy or animation model as they had no sponsors logos on it.

Sunstreaker may get revealed towards the end of the year for a 2014 release and who knows with iGear....Impactor exists as a prototype and has done for some time and Windcharger would seem likely if they're still intending to do a complete series 1 lineup but iGear also seem to have several other things on the go including Classics Dinobots ( Booo! ), other Mini Warriors & PP04 Bumblebee & Cliffjumper which I'm hoping they shelve in favor of Mini Warriors that retain the Penny Racer proportions of the G1 toys.

Thanks for the heads up I've gone for it...even with a 4-5 week wait it will be worth it.

I appreciate what you are saying about it being too good & everything & I expect you'll be right but it has to be worth a shot.

I did notice it says it's sold by Amazon EU Sarl so I did a little digging & they are a legit arm of Amazon...

I'm tempted to order 2 just in case.

Trailer or not I'm definitely in for one.

Fingers crossed it turns out to be true :pray:

Neil

EDIT - Just read in the item description that it looks like it does come with the trailer...

Trailer converts to battle station
